USB/iPod adapter vs. Comfort Adapter
I ordered my Mini with the Comfort Adapter. I received the car with the Y cable for connecting the iPod in the dash and some sort of "preparation" on the armrest with no cable. Am I missing something to use the comfort adapter?
Could someone please explain to me the difference between the regular adapter and the comfort one? I thought I would be able to connect my iPod inside the armrest, but I am supposing I have to get some kind of custom cable to do so.
Any insights would be very helpful. Thank you.

Comfort Bluetooth add the capability of using a separately-sold snap-in adapter to the armrest for charging the phone and amplifying the antenna signal.
To add to the confusion, there's also Smart Phone Preparation, which adds the ability to play music from a phone that has a supported snap-in.
Not all phones have a snap-in available, but the link in my sig has part numbers listed where we know them.

Yep, as long as you have the SmartPhone Integration that's the correct one.
Even if you don't have the SmartPhone Integration, based on someone else's post over on www.mini2.com, it looks like it would still charge the phone but the USB connection wouldn't work.

Unfortunately not, it's option code 6NF and should cost an extra $100.00. If you have a printout of your car's configuration it should be listed there- or you can always give the dealership a call.
I ordered the "Comfort Bluetooth with USB/iPod Adapt.". My convenience package cost was USD 1,750. If I remember it correctly, the option for the comfort adapter was an extra USD 500 to the convenience package. Since I did not especifically asked for a smart phone preparation, I am assuming I ordered the regular one.

Yeah, it sounds like you're without the smart phone prep, but there's still a iPhone 3G snap-in for it, you'd just be without music. If you do order it, it wouldn't hurt to have the dealer check compatibility against your VIN.
So the only place where I can plug a iPod for music is the dash input? I thought this kit would alow me to leave an iPod inside the armrest for music.
MINI should really make it more clear what does these options provide and what else is necessary for them to work!
Tks for you help!
