Bluetooth update/LG Dare 9700 issues

Hello,

Got a new LG Dare, but I cannot get it to work properly. I can sync it, and I can make calls out, but it doesn't answer the calls properly. When I receive a call, it will not active the audio in the MINI, so it doesn't ring, I just get the phone buzzing.

When I answer the call using the phone, the audio is not active, I have to manually switch the audio back to the phone before I can talk.

Anyone else have this issue with any of the phones? Is there a firmware upgrade for the MINI by chance?

Thanks,
Trevor.

I haven't heard of that problem with the Dare before- it's known not to sync the phonebook, but others have been able to pair it to the car, dial and receive calls.

Have you tried deleting the MINI from the phone and the phone from the MINI at the same time and re-pairing?

There's not any software updates from MINI for phone compatibility. Their official view is: if the phone's not listed at wireless4mini.com, it's not going to work and if it is listed, no promises.

Yeah, I tried repairing many times. It is a very odd and frustrating problem, as it 'almost' works. I can dial out, but not receive!

Phone company says its a mini problem, mini says, 'hey, we can check if there is a new software version if you like, but it'll cost ya an hours labour, and if there is, it'll cost ya 3 hours labour to upgrade to it'!

Gee thanks...

Interesting.... I went to the dealer today to look at the new cabrio, and while I was there I was able to try it in a couple of cars. They worked fine (send and receive calls). They didn't sync phonebooks, but I'll take just sending and receiving ok.

I will have to have some more discussions with them I guess. Mine is an early 08 clubby, and these were 09s that I tried.

I was told that there is a BT update for the MINI. They wanted a couple hundred dollars to do it for me.

I have just got an LG Dare and it sorta worked, sorta didn't. MINI said the BT doesn't have updates for the car (is that true?), but Verizon did update my phone to have the following software version which helped.

With SW: VX970V06

you can answer calls (the car will ring), end calls using the button on the steering wheel (the button on the car stereo is spotty at this), make calls using the car voice activation. Yesterday the phone and car did try to communicate with the phonebook (I got a please wait message from the car), but today it said no entries. Verizon said they have a bluetooth expert I can take the phone and car to and he might be able to get the phonebook to transfer. I will post back if that works.

I have an 08 cooper.

Glad to hear that a LG software update has helpd out some. Usually they break the connections even more.

As for the phone book transfer. LG uses their own propritary Object Push function which DOES NOT meet the Bluetooth standard and that is the reason that the LG phone do not transfer the phoen book normally. This has beena problem for over three years with them. In fact they do transfer with many other makes of cars as well, because of this problem. It would be nice if LG got on the bandwagon with the real Bluetooth Standard.

May be one day LG will work out the problems.

heli_guy:

Check the software version in your phone Verizon is notorius for not updateing the firmware in the phones prior to customers getting them. This may help and it should be free.

That is annoying of LG. I spoke to them yesterday and they were very non-challant about it. The rep said her phonebook doesn't work in her car either so I shouldn't be too annoyed, that's just the way it is. I actually have until Monday to switch the Dare out for another phone if I want. Seeing that it might drop calls, etc makes me want to sit in my car all day and call people. Fingers crossed it continues to work normally. I really like the phone. I like my car better though.

Thanks for the updates! Unfortunately, my phone is a Telus phone, and we have the latest software, as far as we can tell. It seems they are a bit behind Verizon in terms of software releases. Perhaps soon though.

What bugs me is it works better on the 09 coopers then my 08 cooper (i.e. I can at least receive calls when using an 09). So MINI did do something different from 08 to 09... I guess I need to follow-up with Telus and the dealer to get this resolved...
