Help! Stereo doesn't turn off when key removed

Hi all

I've been trying to fit a newministuff bluetooth kit to my US 2007 Cooper S convertible. The kit was working, but I've been having problems with battery drain, so I've been working with Mike at newministuff to troubleshoot.

This morning I removed the aftermarket cable, and plugged it back standard, and now the stereo won't turn off when the key is removed. Any suggestions? This seems like a really weird problem, as all I did was put to back standard.

Does the stereo automatically turn off after 20 minutes while driving? If so, the trigger wire is probably disconnected. This makes the stereo think the car is always off. So you can turn it on, but it won't know when the car is shut off. It also goes into the 20 minute mode where it requires you to turn it back on after 20 minutes because it thinks it's protecting the battery. I'm not sure which wire does that, but I would go over that connector making sure everything is in place.

stereo DOES turn off after 20mins

I checked again, and the stereo does turn off after 20mins. I checked all the cables and connectors, but nothing was loose.

Any ideas?

Delorean has it right - the stereo doesn't know the car is on/off.
I'm not positive, but referencing this diagram, I'd say check that the purple/blue wire (Pin 16 -accessory) is intact and making contact.

thanks

Does the alpine wiring diagram also apply to a 2007 cabrio with the HK stereo? Should this wire go +12? when the key is turned on?

Are the plugs any sort of standard? Mini seems to make this quite difficult.

The '07 Cab should be just the same. I would assume 12+ with the key on. The plug is standard BMW, but that's about it...

This sounds to me like one of the 2 radio fuses in the kickwell has popped

Solved!

Mike, you nailed it. It was the fuse - I can't believe that the dealer couldn't tell me this...

Thanks so much for everyone's help.
