Kuda Mount help please...

I have a very general question about the Kuda mount.

When you attach the actual plastic mount base for your GPS to the Kuda Mount - is it normal to have such a hard time of it?

So far I've managed to break the head off of one of the attachment screws (and have had to move the plastic base slightly to re-attach - fortunately the base covers the broken off screw still) - and it feels like the other one is about to break soon if I continue to try and tighten it any more.

In addition - the screws seem horribly soft - I'm using the proper size phillips head screwdriver and the screw is still getting burred up.

Whatever the material is behind the leather is - it is apparently as hard as a rock.

Can anyone offer any tips before I totally ruin the Kuda mount? Thanks in advance.

Drill a small hole for the screw first, and use the right size screwdriver.

Mine came with little bolts and nuts too. I figured that route was more secure, so I used them instead of the screws.

You MUST pre-drill the holes resistance is futile. even predrilling I had a drill bit break because it was so hard.. I now have 2 small (really little) rips that you wouldn't notice in the leather.
