Navigation & Audio iPhone Stopped Working
iPhone Stopped Working
My iPhone suddenly stopped working in my MCS. I was listening to the iPod function, made a bluetooth call, and in the middle of the call the signal dropped and I could not get the iPod to play. The phone works fine as does the iPod function if neither are used in conjunction with the car. The cable connecting the phone to the car is intact and plugged in. The bluetooth function is turned on. I can't figure it out. Does anyone have advice?
I had a problem where I could no longer pick the iPhone with the "Audio" button. Instead of "iPod" it said "USB" and when I picked that, it would say "Loading" but not work. I was experimenting with various iPod/iPhone cables to see which would work at the time, but once the problem started, even the original cable didn't work. After much screwing around, I gave up. I had tried turning everything off in the car, resetting the iPhone, etc. without luck. The next morning the iPhone worked fine using the cable that came with it. I stick with the original cable now and no problems since. Hopefully your problem (if yours was the same as mine, I could not tel for sure from your post) will clear up in the morning. Not much help I know but I guess what I'm saying is that your problem might be a fluke like mine and might clear itself if you give it time. Keep us posted.

Have you tried to:
1) push the button on the top of the phone until the phone powers down then power it back up
2) play the iPhone with headphones
3) connected your iPhone to your computer and and reinstalled the software?

1) You connect the iPhone to your computer via the USB cord,
2) iTunes should open
3) click on your iPhone in iTunes
4) This is where it gets a bit fuzzy from memory, but there will be several tabs. One of them will give you the option to reinstall the software.
Apple just released 2.2 a couple days ago. You will need to install it anyway.
Did you say that you cannot listen to the iPod application through the iPhone speakers as well?
The software you might need to reinstall is the iPhone 2.2 software.

There is also a "Restore" button that will restore factory settings, and I believe, reinstall the iPhone OS. Do this if the update doesn't fix the problem.
