iPod song titles not showing up?

Anyone have a problem with song titles not showing up on the screen? Its pretty strange. All the mp3 have titles on my computer before I put them on the ipod nano. But when I go to the car some seem to be there and others dont.

BTW I have a 09 Cooper S.

Not sure why your does that. I use an iPhone and all information shows up on screen. I don't have navigation in my car if that is a difference.

I think it has something to do with the mp3's. Some titles must not have the info incoded or something. I noticed that it does the same thing on the ipod itself. It says unknown track and unknown artist. I tried to compare the mp3's, but I don't see much difference in the files.

The only way for the names not to show on the radio/nav screen is if they are not being seen by the iPod.

As for the iPod not showing them but them being displayed on the computer. You need to check to see what is in the Get Info file.

To check this:
1. Highlight a song that you know does not show a name on the iPod.
2. Right click on the title and a drop down box should come up on the screen
3. Click on Get Info.
4. If there is no information in the blocks or it is wrong this is where your problem is. If the information is correct then there is something else wrong.

Let me know what you find.

I have a new Mini here in Ireland. Just supplied and programmed. I have the same problem in that the track names and playlists all come up as gibberish.

gffh
shys
swiw

etc
etc

its weird...

How can I check the version of my software on the Mini? There is nothing on the settings page that I can see.

It should not be a problem with the Mini Software. IT is not what tells the display what to display. The iPod is what tells the dispaly what to dispaly so there is probably a problem with the track tags in the mp3's. There are many free programs out there that will allow you to check and change the tags on the mp3's. some are IDTagit, mp3Tag, Ultra Tag, jsut to name a few.

I would suggest that you get one of these programs and check the tags first.

Sounds to me like you need to go into iTunes and add ALL the song info. It'll take a while, but I've done it with my library. Once it's finished, it's a beautiful thing.

I have just been informed by BMW that this may happen if you have the 6NF pack, and use the centre USB port. They are sending me a new Y cable (because with the 6NF I got a cradle that does not yet work with the NAV, and no Y cable).

Apparently they think this may fix it.
