Smallest amp

I've found a new amp that is tiny. 8.25(L) x 4.8” (W) x 1.7”(H)
http://www.arcaudio.com/productdescr...125.2-mini.asp

I need help from an audio expert.

If a speaker is rated at 90 watts RMS at 2ohm with a peak of 270 watts, would this amp, it puts out 125 watts RMS at 2ohm, be safe? I'm not sure how the speaker's peak watts relates to the amp's RMS. Now would this amp be enough for a set of speakers that needs 110 RMS at 2 ohm with 330 watts peak?

Yes, you will be safe as long as you don't keep pushing harder when you hear distortion from the driver.

It gives you a nice headroom which helps with large dynamic passages. Good amp by the way.

Thanks for your input. That is what the audio guys at a local shop said today when I asked them. But they have never dealt with Arc Audio before, so they couldn't tell me about this amp. However they say this amp could be upwards of $500 to $600, based on the new mini amp electronics architecture. I need to call a place in the next city over, they are an Arc Audio dealer, and get the real story. I hope it is less.

I wouldn't pay that much for that amplifier. I would go with something like an Alpine PDX 2.150. They are easily hidden in our cars and cost a lot less (street prices)

also look into JL's new HD line, they hare a little thicker than the PDX but have a similar footprint and are stellar amps.

Hey M3NTAL, i was just looking at the Alpine PDX-5. It supposed to be the same size as the PDX-2.150, does it fit in the same spot as the stock amp?

I think I'm going with the Alpine PDX 4.100
At the volume levels I will play at, it will be more than enough. It meets my speakers RMS too.
