Ok, so XM and Sirius both have a zillion channels.......but how many different channels do you REALLY listen to? I'm guessing that most people are like me and listen to a couple or so channels, and the rest are just excess baggage.

I have about 20 programmed but only seem to listen to about 8-10 of them depending on mood or what I am doing. Listening to the other channels usually depends on who is with me and their interests.

depends on the time of year...

Sports channels are used appropriately at the right time of year. 2 of our vehicles have XM which has MLB baseball and NCAA football...Sirius takes care of our NFL needs in the MINI.

Music on both consists of about a dozen channels each. News, a couple.

Now the 2 have merged. In about 3 months they'll roll out a radio that can receive both XM and Surius. They'll also let you receive some of the other's stations (in addition to what you have) for additional fee. They'll also let you pick any 50 that you want for $6.99/mo. For about $15/mo they'll let you pick from both. They'll include the NFL and MLB offerings I think. Now's not a good time to buy one of these radios or sign a long term agreement IMO. Soon you can maybe have the best of both worlds.

I have XM in my other car. I listen to 4 channels here is the order:

54 - Lucy
133 XMPR
40 Deep Tracks
70 Real Jazz

That is it. The rest I might fiddle around with once in a blue moon but not for more than 5 mins at a time.

Most of the time I just listen to NHPR since it comes in better than the satellite feeds here in the sticks.

I guess I ought to ditch the subscription now that I think about it
