Navigation & Audio Does iPhone 3G work with the iPod kit in the R56
2010?????????????
Well, I just upgraded my 1st gen Iphone and I now have a 32GB Black Iphone 3Gs. When I plug the phone in I get a message the the charger is not compatible. This pretty much blows, I hope MINI release a new y cable, or I'm going to have to keep using my old school Ipod which looses connection every once in a while. It kind of blows when your listening to a song and you hit a pot hole and your back to radio. Hope something comes out soon.

I have a 2009 MCS with the Bluetooth/USB and my 3g charges fine. it does ask me the airplane mode question most of the time but I just say no and it charges without issues. The only problem I have found is you cannot adjust the telephone volume as you can with other bluetooth phones (Using a motorola RAZR befor the Iphone) you can turn the volume **** eitherway but it does nothing.
IPHONE 3GS
YES BUT WILL IT CHARGE THE PHONE? MY MUSIC PLAYS, WHEEL CONTROLS WORK, ETC BUT MESSAGE OF "NO CHARGING" COMES UP
I have a Clubman with the factory installed usb/bluetooth option. When you plug in the iPhone 3G into the factory y cable you see a message asking if you want to put it into "Airplane Mode" to reduce interference with the audio. I choose no because I also have bluetooth turned on the iPhone 3G and paired with my Clubman.
I'm happy to report the iPhone 3G is completely compatible with at least the factory installed usb/bluetooth Ipod kit with the y cable. With the iPhone 3G connected and playing music the phone part of the iPhone 3G also works great. I can receive and make calls. The music stops during a call and resumes playing when the call is done.

Also, my iPhone 3G running 3.0 does not charge using the Y-cable.
