Where to mount iPod Touch with Aux

I would like to see how anyone has mounted their Ipod Touch in their MINI without the expensive factory Ipod hookup.

I have thought about putting a mount in the cubbyhole by the cup holders. Also, mount it to the large speedometer but then I couldn’t see my fuel gauge or whether my fogs were on. There was one posted here before but they had navigation. I’ve seen a few mounts on ebay but they don’t look that great. I’m looking to see what is possible.

I just have the aux input with a 1/8th inch plug cable connected to my iPod Touch. The iPod is set to shuffle and sits in the passenger side cupholder.

Check out Kuda mounts.

http://www.kudausa.com/kuda_mount_an...07-34-529.html

They have two different mounts for Mini's, one mounts an item to the right side of the radio stack and the other mount is to the left of the speedo and above the air vent. See pictures on their site.

You will also have to add a specific mount for the iTouch to the mounting bracket. Such as this

http://www.kudausa.com/ipod_touch_ch...adle-1366.html

Also if you search for Kuda on this website you will see what others have done with their mounts.

There is also mounts from ProClip such as seen here.

http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpa...p_leftorright=

These also require item specific adapters.

The problem I have with the Kuda mount is that its so obvious that you have something of value in your car. My car is parked on the street at night and in a garage during the day. If there was something where it was a more stealth integration than that could work. I always put it in the secret compartment when I get out of the car.

I might have to fab something toghether.

I rigged up a holder for my nano out of aluminum (see pic). It's somewhat crude as it is a prototype and I had to make a lot of adjustments. Basically it just hangs over the edge of the glove compartment door, and it won't fall off when I open the door. Before I get out of the car, I just toss the whole thing into the glove compartment. The same concept could be applied to any iPod/iPhone, or even GPS.

Great idea. Now can you patent it so that no one else steals your idea I'm sure that it would be a great seller these days for any car.

Bump. I want a mount for my iTouch and was wondering what people have tried. The Kuda mount that goes on the left of the dash seems the best for me at this point.

I want to be able to change tracks and stuff without digging it out of the hole. I'm thinking a mount that attaches to the vent to the right of the steering wheel might work best. I like the positioning of the Kuda mount but like someone said, it gives it away that you keep something relatively expensive in the car.

Perhaps I should make a cap that hides the dock when the iPhone/iPod has been removed?

Or how about making one with a black dock built in (cut out the center for a dock)

I know the mounts seem expensive, but I'm considering ordering the iPod (iPhone) mount and Bracket Z from cravenspeed and mounting my iPod on the right side of my Speedometer. (I have the chronopack)

Anyone else have this?

You might get a better response by asking this question on the Gen 1 forums as this is the Gen 2 forum and these do not work on the gen 2 R56 and R55.

I would really like to see a pic of a mount that would go to the left of the tach. I could do the Kuda down low for stealth and I'm with Tu13es - I'm tired of pulling the iTouch out of the hole - I want my cupholder back! But I didn't see any pics of the Kuda from the front, only from the side. Any pics from the front?

To the left of the Tach would be ideal though. When I need to change tunes, it is much safer to be looking up rather than down.
