iPod adaptor for 2004 Cooper - cheapest?

yes, there are a million ipod integration threads, but non answered my question:
I'd like to get an ipod adaptor for a 2004 standard cooper (non nav, non cd changer, non dsp) that would support steering wheel controls and be able to work with the older generation ipod nano's and the newer generation iphone/itouch.
ice link plus doesn't specify that it works with iphone or itouch.
DICE doesn't display text, but that's fine, says it works with the newer and older ipods, and charges, so looks like my best bet, but do I need the trunk interface or or radio interface?
OEM ipod adaptor may be my best bet for charging and steering wheel controls, but would I install in boot or under dash?

what is the most economical solution? and easiest to install myself?

ipod adaptor

dice definitley. I have the stock one and it sucks. No playlists no searching nothing! I know my music but I like to search for specific songs sometimes. Although I found a way to trick the stock one but you have to unplug the ipod pick whatever playlist you want and start playing it. Then plug it back in and let it load and it will play that playlist until you change it. Just 5 playlists and they have to say mini_1,mini_2 etc. The dice works with 04's. The only catch is you have to have the stereo that has the option to plug in a cd changer. The ipod adaptor plugs into the cd changer plug on the back of your stereo. If you don't have this then your out of luck upgrade the stereo. Hope this helps
