Just got this cable last night and put it in. Basically one end connects to your cigarette lighter port and the other connects to the dock port on the iPod. It charges your iPod as you play it, but on the cigarette lighter end it has a aux jack. So you can connect your aux wire right into the cigarette lighter part and leave it there, instead of having to connect it to the ipod everytime. Then you just plug in the ipod and go! Also the Belkin has a volume control on it so it actually boosts the sound even more! I couldnt believe how much louder it sounded! It also is that transparent white so it looks like a real Apple product and looks sweet in the MINI. Here is a pic of it. Ill post pics of it in my car later...

I used the dealer installed AUX jack that was fitted inside the glove box. It cost me about $100 installed.

I wish I had the newer IPOD, I have the old 5gb one, were I needed to use 3rd party hacker software to get it to run on my Windows computer. I have way to many underground songs that took me 2 years to find, so there is no way I can go out and buy a new one. If only there was a way to copy the old songs on to a new Ipod........(any hacker programs anybody knows that will let me bypass the copyright on the ipod, please let me know )...................... Thats ok, I have a old old plug in for the cigarette lighter, works just like yours, but I don't have the cool louder volume on mine *hugs his old Ipod*

Yeah, there are programs to get the songs off. Go to Version Tracker and search.

Ants- that's a great one-piece solution for the new iPods. Any problems with that big dock connector keeping the iPod from sitting snugly in the cup holder? Also, anyone out there install a power outlet in the glove box (how, please?), so that all the adapters, connections and excess wires stay hidden?
