Title/Artist not appearing on radio display
Hi, everyone!
I have a 2006 MC w/stock radio, MSFW, iPod integration & Parrot EVO. Everything has worked just fine EXCEPT that I have never been able to see the Title/Artist on the radio display.
One post that I came across stated that MINIs with a build date of Jan 2005 or later have the ability to show the Title/Artist on the radio display.
Is this true? I have an October 2006 build date.
If it isn't true, what can I do (read: need to buy!) so that I can see the Title/Artist on the radio display?
Thanks!

The only thing I can see title/artist with is Sirius. Everything else, I just get either the track number (iPod/CD) or the station number (radio).
I have a late August/early September 06 build, and the exact same setup as you except I also have OEM Sirius.

You can't get *any* track information from factory-pressed CDs other than track number. The artist/track title information simply isn't encoded anywhere on the disc itself (that's why programs like iTunes have to go online to connect to the CDDB Gracenote database to identify the artist/track information when you insert a CD into your computer).
Now, your head unit is new enough that you should be able to display track information for songs on your iPod, if you get the DICE iPod integration kit from EAS. (or other similar product). The MINI iPod kit won't display track information.
If you're playing MP3 files off of a disc you've burned yourself, I don't know if there's any way for that track information to be displayed on the head unit, even though the artist/title information is encoded in the MP3 tag. The few times I've played MP3 discs in my MINI, the head unit has only displayed the track number.
Oh, and to get radio station information like call letters, and song/artist information, I think I had to turn RDS "ON" in the stereo. Even with RDS turned on though, not all stations encode the information in their broadcast, so you may just get call letters or nothing at all.

It could depend on the area/station. I don't get it for some Santa Cruz stations, but definitely do when over in SJ.
