Which speakers to tap into?

Quick question,
I'm installing an amp and sub tomorrow with speaker level inputs.
Should i tap into the rears or the fronts? Does it make a difference? Might be easier to tap the fronts as i wouldn't have to take apart the whole back of the car.
This is for a non-hifi system btw.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Jordan

Most say to tap the front as it provides more bass

Where to tap in?

Where should I tap into the fronts? I will be putting in a powered sub under/behind the drivers seat and I need to know where the best place to splice the front speaker wire is...

Id rather find the wires as they go into the doors, anyone know what the color coding is on the speaker wires that go to the larger door speakers on the non HIFI?

In the middle of this sticky there are some wiring diagrams. Keep us updated with your progress.

Well, I only found 1 diagram for the non hifi, and it was stupid basic and had no color coding/wire path. I'm probably going to go over to see Dr. Steve at CMS today (see the link in sig), he is a guru and I'll pick his brain on what to do. I'll try and make sure that there are lots of pics no matter what happens. Oh yeah, I pulled up the panel under the passenger seat, which was the original mounting location, and realized I dont think theres enough room with the DSC there, but it should fit on the floor board behind the drivers seat (and passenger if I decide to add a second one). I litterally havent had a second passenger in my car for at least 4 years, so Im not worried about anyone stepping on it. BTW, this is what I am installing.

Sorry about that wild goose chase. I wish had taken notes of the color coding when I changed my non-Hifi front speakers. I just used the 9V battery test to see which one was positive or negative.

I think I got a diagram from CMS that has all of the color codes on it, and I am pretty sure I even got the explanation of what the codes mean. We'll see if it is right though...

check this diagram, I used it for front speaker replacement:

http://www.mcaw.info/opossum/R56Radio.png

Translation of german colors:
SW - black
RT - red
VI - magenta
BR - brown
OR - orange
BL - blue
WS - white
BR - brown
GE - yellow

If you want to tap into the fronts, find the following:

Front left:
+ black/red
- black/magenta

Front right:
+ yellow/brown
- yellow/black
