What spec speakers for OE head unit?

Before you all tell me to use the search feature, think about how many times the words ohm, watts, amp and speakers appears in this section.

Lately I've been thinking about getting better sound from my system but I want to keep it stock looking. I rather like the looks of the deck. My stock speakers have been sounding more and more muddied. I think they are getting worn out: trance, dance, and electronica have taken a toll on them.

What spec speakers would work with the stock head unit? I do not want to add an aftermarket deck or amp. I know the stock speakers are 4ohm, 90db, right? and how many watts? What range will work with the deck? The front speakers are 5.25" and the rear are 6"x9", right? Will 5.25" work all around? I hear that oliptical speakers make distorted sound. What size are the small tweeters? Wattage?

Thanks

I just replace my fronts with 6.5 polks and they sound great! As for my stock 2004 non h/k front speakers they were 5ohm The polks are 4 ohm therefore the speakers are pulling a little more power from the head unit amp than they are supposed to. But this is only temporary I have a Pioneer DEH-P9800BT in the garage going in the mini this weekend.

'04 stock HU, no HK......I replaced the fronts with Infinity 6002si shallow mount 6 1/2 inch Coaxial two-way speakers and used styrofoam for spacers with glued on felt so the styfoam wouldn't squeak...cost me $80..very efficient speakers, greatly added to the clarity and brilliance and plenty enough bass for my liking...not into spending $1000 on the sound system.....very easy wiring...very good sound overall....simply unplugged the old 5 1/4" speaker and plugged in the new ones and left the stock 1" tweeters connected(I like the extra brilliance)....I had planned to replace the rears too but decided not to as I was happy enough with the results after doing just the fronts
