well i have the new ipod and there really are no mounts for it that i have found, so i just use the dock seated on top of the right cupholder, the dock then has a line in and power adpater, so i just drop the ipod in, attach the remote and im ready to go... it works quite well. im waiting for the new supposed blitzsafe HU to come out... but for now this works great. i then have 2 remotes, one for the car (attached to the shift boot) and one for exterior use. if ud like i can take some pictures. i also have the backlight always running. if you guys find a better mount, please keep us all updated..

ivan, do u have an ipod yet??

Hey EliteCooperS,

Yeah, I have an iPod, but I have the older version when it first came out, so it's a little thicker than the new ones. Do you have a link to the Blitzsafe? Yes, pictures please. I think Pilo Raxing is making a mount, just curious if it would fit the iPod. For now, I'm using my parcel shelf to hold the iPod, but I do need something where I can see it while I'm driving. I'll look around a bit more.

I found this, at everythingipod.com, but I don't like the look.

Here's the linkwww.everythingipod.com

There's also this one here

But I bet that would hit the console since the cup holders are in the way.

The one that comes with the VW Bug/iPod promotion will be out to the public soon. Here is a pic. Fits right in the cup holder.

I believe it fits both. It's from Belkin. Here's a link to their site: iPod holder from Belkin

i saw that too, but i still think my setup is easier because i just throw it in the dock, and it is already hooked up to the power and to the audio, and then i just throw my remote dangling, if you dont, then u have to run the audio through the remote as well and there are a lot of extra wires... i will post pics soon

Yes, please do.... I am interested too see how you have it set up. That does sound much better with the remote dangling. Also I have an extra dock lying around. I just cant figure out how to secure the dock/ipod from moving, so for now I just sit it in the cup holder.

I had the aux kit installed recently and had them leave the input jack between the downtubes. Now I just plug in my iPod and go! No extra wires at all. I keep the iPod between the seats under the e-brake (it's got a neoprene case so it doesn't slide around at all). I have enough lead wire so that I can pick up my iPod to change the music, but mostly I just set it before going anywhere and then leave it alone.

Doesnt it slide off the "hump" when you drive?

I edited my post above before I saw this one. In answer, no, because I've got a blue neoprene case which sticks like glue to the carpeting. And the blue almost matches the Lapis interior!

Hey guys--great news! I got an email yesterday from the nice folks at ProclipUSA. They say that they're going to be making IPod compatible mounts that will be available in mid-August. I'm sure most of you have seen their cellular phone mounts. I just got one on recommendation from MCOers, and it RULES. I can use my i90 as a speakerphone for total handsfree-ness.

The Belkin one looks cool and all, but I'm going to hold out from the Proclip.

Cheers!

k guys here they are

the setup works just fantastic. im sure apple will be coming out w/ a holder that hooks up to audio and charges, but the audio may hook up through Tape Deck as opposed to the aux input availavble to the MINI

Yeah I know I have one, but if you take a turn fast that thing will go flying. The search for a better solution continues....
