Inexpensive Stereo upgrade ideas

Just looking for some inexpensive stereo upgrade ideas. I have some amps and subs from a previous car, but do not want the added wait in the mini. I thought about changing out the head unit, but I like the factory look.

im running polk 5250's on the front and the basslink in the boot (i know
you mentioned you dont want the added weight).

perhaps pull out the factory battery and put a braille to compensate?

sounds good. very rich and punchy.

you can tune the EQ and comes with a remove volume control.
easy to use and plenty of bass for most people.

build a nice box that will look flush/stealthy in the back, with a 10 or 12 or something, and a small amp...

head unit...i love my Nakamichi CD400..looks as factory as it gets. the amber LED's match almost perfect, and the front of the head unit just looks factory reguardless.

speakers, get some budget components up front and an amp, and if you want, some 6x9 coaxials out back, and and either run those off the head unit, or get a 4 channel amp, for the front and rear speakers.

I put an amp under the passenger's seat, nice separates up front and 6x9 subwoofers in the stock rear position. It jams....100x better than stock and no space used up for a big box.

I'm thinking about ditching the 6x9's and building a flat box to bring up the rear load floor...there are some flat 10" drivers I want to try.
