I have a 2002 MCS and was wondering what is the best solution for hooking up an ipod to the 2002 stock radio. I have been looking into two options. #1 the Dice intergration kit $149.00 or #2 the Harman Kardon Drive and Play ($19.99 cant beat the price).

My main question is about the HK Drive and Play (yes I have searched) can you hook up a aux jack to the stock 2002 radio i want the ipod to go through the stereo not as an fm transmiter. Is this possible on the 2002 radio?
Also there is no way the ipod text would show on the stock radio with the Dice Kit, is that correct?

I'm under the impression that the 2002 head units aren't capable of supporting an aux in...

Patience, grasshoppah.

Depends what 2002 head unit you have. Some of the earlier 2002 HU's don't support the AUX input. (or CD changer)

However, if you have a model that does support it, then the answer is "yes".

Although I did mine with junk parts, I did a write up which may help you become more familiar with the AUX side of things.

Also, from this page: http://www.diceelectronics.com/Merch...e=i-BMW-T-Mini

it would seem that, no, you will not have text on the HU.

You'll need to find someone with a newer model who has gone aftermarket with their stereo. This was a big problem early on, but now there are enough cars out there with aftermarket stereos that you should be able to find one here in the marketplace if you place a want ad.

Technically yes, but AFAIK only at a cost (~$350) far exceeding the OEM aux-in.

Not sure what the change date is, but IMO your best course of action is to get the OEM aux-in. Plug it in to your stereo. If it works, voila. If not, you'll need it anyway when you get a newer head unit.

Thanks Tom I understand that your kit will work, but I cant swing the $ 150.00 right now I was just wondering if it was an option to hard wire the HK Drive and Play directly to the cd changer boot wires. Tom I dont expect you to answer this since you are trying to sell the kit. But just asking if the head unit will recognize the Drive and Play and let it be accessed from the mode button as a cd changer?

Or he could go with the Blitzsafe M-Link for less than half the cost...

You won't be able to use the MFSW to control your iPod. You just use it like normal. Sound quality is perfect and obviously it charges your iPod. For around $50 (even cheaper now than when I got it), at EnfigCarStero, it's the best solution IMO...
