I did not report a fix was done and available. Others posted that, read above and the other linked thread of an update. I'm too busy busy driving my 2 other non-mini and non-bmw vehicles that have nav systems that actually function.

Between the cold start noise that they will not fix or address, and a ripoff nav system POI that does not work. I've already came to the conclusion, mini does not support their product.

You said the following in July. You seem to be the only one with news about the software being "fixed". Have you followed your own suggestion (called the service department and gotten the update)?

You guys OBVIOUSLY, work for MINI because you have very selective reading abilities. I have NOT reported the fix, I reported somebody else reporting the fix. Here is the link: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com...66#post2420166

So I am asking if anybody has gotten that, or any other fix for this BROKEN software?

Mini employee's quite obviously have VERY selective reading abilities. If you click on this forum, about 6 out of the first ten issues listed are regarding "How to Mount a Garmin Nuvi GPS in their Mini". If Mini would simply FIX this broken software, and sell the new mini's with at least a decent $2000+ navigation system (which would cost them about $50 each in bulk, quite the profit margin!) that actually functioned as advertised, they wouldn't have all this grief, worry about impending lawsuits or have to combat threads like this one all over the WEB, or other threads about ridiculously mounting $100 Nav units in front of the built in one!!

Any fix out Yet???

Just to keep the facts on track, here are the links to threads about mounting Garmins or other Nav units or replacing the Nav unit all together. These are ONLY from my FIRST page of thread listing, I'm sure if I went to page 2, 3 4.... this list would be endless. AMAZING!! I just can NOT believe this doesn't embarrass somebody at MINI/BMW enough that they change this and fix the software. ??? Perplexed.

Here is a guy who completely REDESIGNED the ENTIRE center section of the car, integrated a large LCD touchscreen with Audio, Ipod, Nav, Camera's.... all FOR LESS than the $2000 MINI is charging for a built in Nav system that does not work. Go figure???

Mini / BMW is going to end up like GM, Chrysler...

Here ya go (LynnEL reporting in August, he received an updated software to his car and Nav):

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post2420166

Have I called who for the update? Mini? Yea right!! I gave up on MINI about 2 weeks after purchasing (and getting ripped off on two items: Broken Nav software, No Phone adapter support, both high priced items that BMW has NOT supported).

So you seem to have interest on this thread, Why? Yours doesn't work either, HuH??

Here's what I remember every morning when I get in my car, my $2,100 Nav software does NOT work. Went out to lunch today, and needed to find a popular store (Costco) and could not remember where it was. Found it driving around visually, while still trying to figure out how I would search for such a store: Home products? Shopping and Banks? ..... hmmmmmmmm.... I wonder why I can't just search for "COSTCO"?

The fact is, the F'in software is useless and MINI should be embarrassed and ashamed. See ya in a few years, when they are in front of congress asking for money cause nobody buys there cars!! Sound familiar? Oh wait, there is not Congress in Germany!!

I didn't realize the drama has been going on for more than a year already. And there still hasn't been a lawsuit. The statute of limitations clock is winding down.

He is a troll only to drop in when he wants attention (special needs I guess). I actually wish the mods would lock this thread already. It serves no purpose.

DUDE, would you STOP trying to change the subject, and stop trying to divert the subject to something other than it is!! Your obvious diversion attempts do nothing but spell, "You work for Mini and want to do nothing but attempt to defend them." The SOFTWARE IS BROKEN, it DOES NOT FUNCTION AS ADVERTISED, PERIOD. I simply posted a link to somebody (LynnE) stating he had an update. I have no idea what the result is, that is why I am asking. Would love to know the outcome.

Nice try agian. I don't want the software to work the way I want it to. I want the software to WORK, as advertised. IT does not, and MINI will fix it, if it's the last thing I do on this planet.

Huh?? Why would I think you as a likely MINI/BMW employee would complain about them?? And, WHY would I care what you think?

I'm really only interested in discussing HOW we will get our BROKEN software, fixed!!

Yea, like daflake keeps saying, the guys is a troll that is adding nothing to the content of the thread which is to get our software fixed. So ALL mini owners can benifit from the fix. Thanks for pointing that out daflake.

I'm almost ashamed to admit I've kept up with this thread. By now we know the hard cold facts of the case:
1. POI was a POS from the getgo, as Birdman pointed out at the getgo.
2. Most Mini buyers who opted for the NAV (my guess is maybe 25%) won't know the difference between a POI and a POW. They just want to see the cute little Mini on the screen map, and maybe use traffic updates as well.
3. Mini's not gonna fix it at this late date. I bet the new Minis don't have the POI fixed either. They probably could fix it, but because it's no big whoop they won't. You can etch that in stone.
4. This thread can probably be closed, because it's become "everyone against Birdman".

I just happened to see my name mentioned. The update did not change the POI issue at all. The POI search method on the Mini nav sucks. That doesn't make the nav broken. And Birdman can pound his chest all he wants about how he's going to frighten Mini into giving his money back. Better chance of a grocery store giving his money back because it put the mustard in the deli section instead of next to the ketchup.

Having owned a 2007 with Nav for a year and a half, if I were to buy a new MINI today I would once again buy the factory Nav.

The main purpose of a navigator is to get you to an address. With free traffic info it does this very well. I also like the current position feature which gives me the name of the neighborhood I'm in, street name, and compass arrow.

The common POIs that I frequently use work well. Fast food, post offices, rest stops, gas stations, etc.

Some businesses are strangely categorized, but I've learned where most of them are stored, and don't give it a second thought.

Alphabetical listings are not the perfect answer that some assume it to be. My wife has a brand new Honda, and it's manual actually states that the best way to look up a POI is by phone number, if you know it. Now that's not very convenient. The one thing the Honda does that the MINI does not is tell you which side of the road the destination is on. I do like that feature.

I started back on page 1. Some of the posts are just plain great! This is a classic thread. I never got the money for the Pepboys search.

I do, this thread was fun for me from the very beginning starting with the threats of a lawsuit.

For a while it was fun to keep it going but I am now growing bored. 23 pages of complete and utter Birdcrap!
