Birdman needs to confirm if/when he got the update himself.

That would have been a courteous thing to do BEFORE posting a "service bulletin" number and telling us all to "call your service department and get the software update."

I guess I'd best just get back to work at my job with the MINI marketing department .

Guys please.... I would have thought that his credibility went out the window with his uber lawyer comments at the very beginning. I guess not!

Even if you get a software update, you will need to have new map disk to solve POI issues as well *also covered in the thread*. The system is not that great with searches and the POI list is horrible.

Yeah, there's 20 pages of Bird-crap leading up to this last incident. The man either has a problem or he's one accomplished cyber fisherman. I salute him if it's the latter. I've got quite a few treble hooks in my mouth myself. Beware of what you bite into on this thread...

I was quite surprised to see how many fish grabbed that one...

Would be nice if it was true, but my dealer hasn't said anything about an update, which my SA said she would as soon as she heard anything.

Call your service department and get the software update. Service bulletin #45428

Just spoke with my SA and he confirms that there is a fix per this above bulleting BUT it IS VIN specific. He also confirmed that he has done one fix, but the owner brought in a letter from MINI referencing his vin# and this bulletin.

SO, since I have yet to receive a letter, he is confirming if my vin# is eligible for this bulletin...if any of that makes sense.

I will post any more information I receive.
Thanks Birdman...

The software has to be applied to the production line at some point - the VIN and associated date of production would tell if the car was produced before the revised software was available.

I would think VIN specific would be just if the car has OEM Nav or not. Every R56 equipped with Nav has the same system with the POI problem.

LOP, post some screen shots of the new setup so we can see how the fix works.

Also, the software IS vin specific, because all cars do not get the same software functionality installed. Maybe you don't have bluetooth, so yoyur version will not have the BT sofware....

Read last few posts here, poser "Lynn" got the update already:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...66#post2420166

Anyone try it yet?

I asked Lynn about the POI but as you can see in that thread, he hadn't noticed any difference, or hadn't check it out since.

Recall??? A manufacturer won't issue a recall unless it's safety related.

Even for many service bulletins, no action is taken until the customer complains about the specific problem.

We are still waiting for your lawyers to tell us it is fixed.

You said you were going to force them to fix it, what happened with that? Why are you wanting someone else to tell you?

You're asking us??? You were the one who complained the most, then reported a fix was done and available. Thought you'd be the first in line.
