JL Audio Cleansweep Volume Control

I will be installing a JL Audio Cleansweep in my 2007 Mini S in the next few weeks. I was hoping for suggestions on the placement of volume control for the Cleansweep unit. It is very important to me that I keep the stock look of the car. Any help will be great.

I'd suggest somewhere that falls easily to hand, somewhere near the shifter or armrest. I did this in my Subaru and it became much more intuitive to use than the volume control up high in the dash

If there's an unused knockout panel anywhere near the shifter or brake handle, that would be my first choice. That way, if you ever remove it, you just need to replace the knockout panel and there won't be a hole left behind.

here was my setup in the LGT (left is volume, right is bass controlling the JL 500/1)...I'd have to see an R56 again to suggest a good spot, though I think there's something near the e-brake

Hey guys: I have been using the Clean Sweep in my MCS for a few months now. I have been able to avoid using the volume **** included with it in most cases and use just the volume on the MFSW or the dash. Seems to work really well. I only use the CS volume to really trim things on a certain song etc.

Going back to the question, the volume and LED in my car are mounted in the console, just behind the shifter. I used the supplied polished **** to help match the interior. This placement falls at hand very nicely!

Side note. This product is REALLY nice. There are other options but I seriously recommend this one!

if you are using system volume and not the CS volume, you're wasting your money buy a proper LOC and be done (and send me the $200 difference).

The CS does two things - 1) it delivers a clean, low-level RCA output from a speaker level input - it can output as much as 8 volts RMS (like a hi-end head unit). 2) It also takes out any volume dependent factory EQ from the stock head unit to give you a flat frequency response to build on.

Using the system volume control obviates the second function. Period. No arguing about this one...it's the nature of the purpose of the CleanSweep. Think about it....the stock system is making up for less than admirable performance out of the basic speakers. You've put in a nice aftermarket set that don't need bass and treble boost to sound good.

what screen? the CS has audio in only, not an iPod connector, thus you use the iPod itself to choose music

FWIW, i have a rockford fosgate 360.2, and the oem signal was pretty flat... I think something like an audiocontrol LC8 or LC6i would work great and cost way less than the cleansweep or anything else. I also grabbed the signals going into the amp, they work fine for me.
