Navigation & Audio What does this icon mean
LMAO .... this is true. it does...
meh it appears quite a bit... I've driven to one of the locations, with no significance to the icon, however...hmmm
it's not in the manual with the traffic icons either.

I looked at satellite imagery of the area where the "cog" is, and it's just a residential area (although there appears to be a tennis court where the "cog" icon appears.
Since you drove to one of the locations, I'm assuming that the icon doesn't stay in the middle of the screen? It's an actual icon for a location, and not just a general alert?

There a BUNCH of un-documented icons in the nav system I haven't figured out yet. MINI should publisize what all the icons are. It's would be too hard to ask the OEM company that made the Nav what icons they use!!
The only icons that I've seen displayed in my NAV unit were ones for the last business type that I searched for. It doesn't seem to display every icon type all of the time but it does remember your last search and that seems to be what determines the icons that are displayed.
Truly funny that they don't know what icons are displayed on the factory unit. Guess that explains all the problems MINI/BMW has with software.

That icon is the "General" icon, whatever that means.
I just downloaded all the icons from the DVD, modified them to look nice, and made a nice PDF sheet with them all on it. MINI should have doen this for us, and put it in the manual.

Hey thanks, very helpful.
Any chance you know what the traffic icons mean? I've been seeing a bunch of different icons and arrows, which I've assumed means traffic problems, but I haven't been able to figure out exactly what they mean.

Hey, thanks. I still haven't gotten through the manual yet, especially the navigation section.
Mystery 'cogs' have appeared
What is this, a malfunction or Mini inside joke? I have had my car for over a year and they just appeared today. And not just singles, they are in large groups. Mini dealer has no idea but is sending a picture to Ask Mini.
I have uploaded pictures of the screen in my gallery

A little off topic on my part. Ever see the show Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law? Its funny because they have the rights to all the old Hannah Barbara cartoons. Anyways there was this one where the Jetsons came back in time to sue the planet for ruining the future environment. George had 7 boxes of punch cards as his evidence. His lawyer asked what this was and he said something like "In the future we have comm-poo-tars, and they run on the miracle invention of the future, cogs". That wasn't word for word sorry, but it was funny.
If it really was one of those companys maybe you should have popped in and taken a look around and considered investing. If nothing else when I was looking in the paper in the mourning and saw Spacely Sprokets was down 8 points, I could yell "Jeeeetttttssooonnn!"
