Navigation & Audio Garmin "MINI" 360 Installation
Garmin "MINI" 360 Installation
The dealer wants $270 to install the "Mini" 360 navigation wiring/bracket on an 07 MCS. I've got the "official installation" PDF doc that shows it's a 30 minute job. Everything looked okay but I came across someone complaining that the instructions are wrong... that the wires/connections labeled do not exist.
Has anyone had success with this particular installation as per these "official" directions? Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

I installed the dealer kit in about 45 minutes, going slow. The instructions are a little unclear - the wire plug you need to use is the only big one to the left of the steering column - about 1 1/2 inches long. Its the only large plug there. And yes, it works well. Not great for the price, but ok.
Finally someone has the real answer to this, i was going to pay 30.00 for the day pass from mini. Can you take a pic of what you did? Where the wires go? Which pin to take out? Any info that will help all of us?
I already removed the bracket and wiring for the 360. I bought an aftermarkei dash mount and velcro'ed it to the curve of the dash next to the speedo. It took 10 minutes to do. The only trick to it is to use an electrical connector pin tool. Mine was from snap-on, but radio shack has them to. An eyeglass straight blade screwdriver will also work well to pop the 2 wires out of the connector. The wires are numbered and colored. It is really very easy. The position the stock mount puts the 360 means you have to look down below the level of the dash to see it -not very good while driving, hence the new mount.
Thank you for the very helpful hints, and the pins that we pull out are 17 and 18 right? but what color are they?

one more thing to make it easy for me and should be easy to answer, on the stock mounting bracket there is 2 wires that you plug needles in and 2 wire that have needles. When we pull out the 2 pins on the big harness, do we use the 2 needle wire and plug those into the big harness, and the 2 pins that we pull out from the harness into the mounting bracket connectors? Hope thats not confusing.
I used the dash mount from Kuda for easier viewing.
I didn't want to have to look down either...

OK, so forgive my ignorance on this subject.
I too am planning on getting the Kuda mount for my Nuvi 350. I have seen an excellent posting by Unixgal where she lays out the installation of the Kuda mount in great detail. However, if I remember correctly, she still has the power cable dangling.
If I understand the postings above, there is a simple connection in the steering column for power??? Can you guys take the time to explain this more clearly to me?
Thanks.....

To be honest, I don't know whch is the hot wire. I did put a tester on the 17 and 18 and one was a 5 volt, the other 12. But... I am not sure if the 12 reads voltage as a a pass thru ground or if it is battery supplied, and the 5 volt is the charging line.

You can also tap the fuse box with a circuit expander and either put a cig socket inside the little cubby to the right of the steering wheel (behind the kick panel) or chop up the power lead and hardwire it.
Once you pull the panels you'll see; if you use the Kuda you don't have to open the steering column or take off the tach.
