On my map display, there are icons in the shape of a heart, with a heartbeat type "blip" line going thru it, marking a POI. What is this?

I can't find that icon in the manual anywhere?


Also, is there anyway to select an icon on screen, to select it as the destination or just view it's information (name, address....)? I tried the crosshairs thingy to point at one, but I couldn't seem to select it. Is that not possible?

 

My car is in the shop, so I can't check it out. Could it be that it turns on hospital icons on the NAV?

 

Could be, but how do I know what it is?

There is no listing of the Nav icons in the manual, that's kinda weird?

 

Buildings with smoke stacks appeared without asking on my nav. Did you do an area info search?

 

Bulding with smoke stacks I think are business, no?

I do "area searches" all the time, why?

I HATE the way they setup the POI searches... it's impossible to just search for a business name without going thru 6 menus of types of POI. The problem is you don't don't always know what type a business is going to fall under (home services, shopping....?). I just want to search for the name.

The other thng that drives me nuts is, you ALWAYS have to select a STATE??? 9999 times out of 10000 searches I will always search NY, I don't want to have to scroll down to "New York" (3/4 of the way down the list of course) every single time I enter an address or search the POI....

 

I ask because those smoke stacks appeared when i did a search for a radio shack. Then, when I did a hospital search, the crosses showed up. I had to go into the "info" screen and check delete icons. My Nav defaults to MD in the state. Plus, I belive you do not have to put a state in if you have the other info in, but not entirely sure since i'm going from memory on that one.

 

I guess you'd have to select it and see what happens.

You can't select it, that's why I'm asking what it is. It's funny, you can't select any of the icons, wish ya could. Poingint and selecting an icon should show you info about that object, but it doesn't.

You sure about that? Next time in your car, try going into information, "Search New Destination". Does it come up as CANADA, UNITED STATES, ALABAMA, ARKANSAS.... all states..."??

Drives me nuts, I have to scroll all the way down to New York .....

Ok, I just figured something out, 9I think you were eluding to it...). After you search for a particular item, the icon for only that item stays on until the next search or reset (car on/off??). BUt, I still would like a list of icons and what they are as well as the ability to simply search for a name, regardless of what catagory it falls into.

 

Yup. I wish there were some place where all the icons are documented.

Here are the ones that I can recall:

Gas Pump - Gas Station
Factory - Business
Fork and Knife - Food
Tent - Camping Area
Bank - Bank
Wench - Mini Center
Bed - Hotel

I am trying to remember all the ones that I've seen before:

Public Places
Mall

The one that I can't figure out is the Circle divided into four pieces. I see that all the time but don't know what it is.

Also some of the icons appear because of the realtime traffic info. Like "Narrowed Lanes", "Accident" etc.
