Cooper and iPod

This quesiton may have been answered a million times but I cant seem to get a straignt one. My new 07S needs to have an IPOD to make us happy. I've seen net sites that offer an interface from the cd changer plug located in the rear of the car. One on oemautosound.com called USA-SPEC seemed to do it all. Can anyone shed some light on this subject.

We've got a kit that will beat both of those hands down. This is the kit you need:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for Mini Cooper (Radio Interface)
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=629

The DICE iPod Kit will integrate perfectly with your MINI and offer steering wheel control as well as ID3 text and charging of your iPod. Full CD Quality can be expected after installation. There's even an integrated AUX port for other devices.

The kit will come with everything needed w/ the docking cable. The iPod can be safely stored away in the glove compartment for 100% stealth installation and accessed completely from the steering wheel controls. The DICE comes with a 15-foot cable length to reach anywhere in the vehicle you like.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

It will work with with the 02, but you will not have text display on the radio. You will still be able to see the text on the iPod's display.

Unfortunately, the DICE is not compatible with the R56. We do have the MINI kit for that specific configuration.

iPod integration kits...

I had an iPod integration kit that fit into the CD changer in my old mini. It makes the iPod look like a cd changer - you create playlists with a special name and each playlist "looks" like a CD. Better than nothing - but this limits you to about 600 songs. My iPod has >5000 songs on it!

I didn't like the factory radio - so I replaced it, got a Pioneer unit with Bluetooth and iPod kits.

OK, so now I trade my 2002 for a 2005 MCS drop top. Back to stock radio.

Anyone know how to get bluetooth AND an iPod functionality out of the HK radio? Suggestions for replacing it?

Thanks!

Hey I've got a question for whom ever might know...
I recently purchased a Microsoft Zune. Right now the car audio market is flooded with all of these fancy accesories for iPods, are there any products out there similar to the above mentioned that can plug into a Zune or any other mp3 player. I'm looking for a product that either caters to Zunes specifically or just a product that can plug into any mp3 players audio-out port. Thanks

Hate to break it to you, but you'll find that market to be very slim.

Now that is a LOT easier. MINI makes an official Aux input for the factory head unit in all 1st Generation MINIs. Quite simple to install, and you can plug any audio-out device (including your Zune) into it. You won't get control of the device from your steering wheel (you'll still have to select tracks on the device itself), however the volume control will still work on the steering wheel, of course.

Now that's what I'm talking about. I'm just getting really tired of hearing static and having to change the freq. all the time with my FM transmitter. Do you happen to know of a good website I can go to to purchase it? I really appreciate your help!

You can buy it at any MINI dealer, it's an official accessory! I also think that the sponsor of this forum, EAS, sells it. It's such a common accessory, you should probably shop around a bit for the best deal, although at even the most expensive place it should be $75 or less (I'm just guessing - throwing a high enough number in there to be sure).

Remember though, some installation required. Not too bad, but be prepared to run the wire, plug it into your head unit, and install the mounting plate (which is basically just one hole you need to drill somewhere - wherever you want to mount it).

iPod integration can be had with the DICE kit:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for Mini Cooper (Radio Interface)
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=629

We're finishing some other pending projects and than completing the non-NAV Bluetooth kits next.

$39 dollars seems like an incredible deal! (Probably way better than the dealer would give me) I think I'm gonna go ahead and buy it. Thank you everyone for your assistance...

It costs twice as much and doesn't seem, from my perspective, to do the job nearly as well as the DICE. I'm a bang-for-the-buck kind of guy. Darned if I'll pay more for less.

I presume from your response that you won't be updating the DICE to work on the R56. Too bad.
