Factory Radio Harness Dilemma!

Hello,

I do not know if this is the exact harness I need. I have a 2004 Mini Cooper and want to return the factory radio back to it. The vehicle had an aftermarket radio and therefore they changed the harness when they put the aftermarket in it. The factory radio is an Alpine model # CD53 R50. The vehicle has a factory navigation system as well. Below are pics of the radio for the car and how the connectors look in the back. Where is the best place to find the factory radio harness and does it require a special harness because of the factory navigation? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
Sam

Any decent shop should have made their own small harness adaptor that plugs into the factory wiring and the aftermarket radio. Simply pull out the old radio and the wiring harness that attached to it. You should then be left with a big black connector on the factory wiring and antenna connector that will plug straight into the stock radio.

went to 4 audio places... all had to special order the original harness but said they could not locate the connector needed for the navigation system to work via the radio as the person who had it before me chopped off those connectors as well.

Oh, having the factory connector cut off does make things more difficult. That was really bad work by the previous owner to do that. Here's the stock connector:

Not sure about the NAV plugin though. Give the parts counter at the dealership a call.

thanks alot! Just got off the phone with a guy at the site you referred me to... Even better he recommended getting the Dice Ipod kit which would contain the main 16 pin connector and a 12 pin connector as well.... Just chop off the end of that and reroute the correct wires back in place...

Perfect! Glad to hear they had a better solution. Too bad the previous owner did that hack job. It's amazing what somebody will do to avoid purchasing a $16 connector.
