I think I'll order my next MINI with no stripes and then order something unique. I've been thinking about removing mine and ordering something but I'm scared of the ghost stripes...

Mine are painted on. . .no removing them now without doing a whole repaint of the hood. Hubby actually had the nerve to suggest painting the whole car a custom color. . .he just doesn't understand how much MINI people associate with their chosen color I guess.

anybody have an idea of someone in the area that could do a paint job for a Mini and how much it might cost?

They guy who did my stripes is a very good friend of hubby's. I could get his info for you and you could give him a call. He's been doing paint and body work for 20+ yrs so he definitely knows what he is doing. Not sure about the cost though. . .as long as you don't want anything too crazy he's probably pretty reasonable. I'll get his # from hubby later tonight and PM you with it.

I had a friend in high school that didn't like the hand-me-down car his parents gave him....and they always said, "You'll drive it until the wheels fall off". So, being the smart a$$ that he was, he took all the lugnuts off all four wheels and drove it down a dirt road. I think they gave in and bought him a newer used car.

I'll have to write that one down in my trick book for later reference.

If I remember correctly his parents gave him a big ole tank of a car. It was like a 1976 Lincoln Towncar...silver with plush (pimp) red crushed velvet interior.
Come to think of it maybe he was kind of justified...but my parents would have KILLED me!
