from what I can tell... that would be the case. you would have to buy tickets for each city if you intend on going to more than one city. and children under 12 are free.

I'm a little disappointed that the Chicago event is no where near Chicago . unless you consider Door County, WI to be nearby (which I don't). MINI should rename the event location to be Milwaukee, not Chicago. It's misleading. At least the other locations are having the event in the city named. Originally, I was planning on attending all three days. Now I'm not sure if I want to attend at all.

If anyone is coming from CHGO and points south.. you're going to get screwed by all of the road construction on 94 and 294 heading north... that 3 hour trip (starting in CHGO) just climbed to 3 1/2- 4 hours...

Road America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, some of you guys have a longer drive....but....

Road America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wondered how much farther north the WI/Chicago event was going to be. I am definately out for this year. A 9 hr drive is manageable and would require minimal vacation useage for drive time. A 12 to 13 hr drive would wipe me out for the rest of the night. That would mean leaving a day early and coming home a day later. I just can't justify 3-4 vacation days to drive to a weekend event. And who knows what gas will be like by then!

Maybe next time...

speaking as someone who has to drive through chicago to get pretty much anywhere, the trick will be to go through very early in the morning or late at night. then just take I94 straight through.

ok... so it was pointed out to me and I reread the CHGO event info...

the rally that is to occur on SAT will begin at Lincoln Park Zoo in CHGO and end up at Road America. thats over 150 miles (no highways)... I guess that means the friday kickoff event will be in CHGO somewhere... Maybe I'll do the first two days...

 does make me wonder who's designing this event. If it's a local person they must not read the papers or drive our highways. It will be fun to see how they are going to move 100's (even dozens) of MINI's from downtown Chicago (LPZ) to even an expressway, all of which are under major road work EVERYWHERE and have they have toll's for you out of towners so bring your roll of quarter's. Guess we'll all see together and if they pull it off, I'll be the 1st to step up to the plate of crow.

MINI USA claims to read our postings, I invite anyone from MINI USA to email or call me about this event for local insight.

mauberley 04-12-2008 05:10 PM

Hopefully they will post more details soon! I'd love to see how they're going to stage a boatload of MINIs at Lincoln Park Zoo...

Friday night "Owners Welcome" and Saturday morning rally starting point both look to be in Chicago according to MINIUSA's preliminary info, so not quite as bad as driving 2-3 hrs north into WI.

I'm going to try to persuade some fellow AMOKs here in central Arkansas (and maybe a MidSouth MINIAC or three from East TN/MS?) to join in a drive up on Friday, 07/25, to return on Sunday or Monday. The few times I've driven LRK - CHI in my MINI, it's taken ~ 10 - 11 hrs at a "moderate" pace, so leaving at a reasonably early hour we should make it up there in time for at least part of the Owners Welcome event on Friday evening.

Anyone planning on attending the LA event? We may do it, but I need to talk with the Mrs. first...

Ivygirl702 04-15-2008 08:31 AM

It seems like fun, and I'm glad that it's only $20. I was expecting more.
Rose Bowl, here we come!

Ladidah 04-15-2008 01:50 PM

Ouch. I hate driving in Chicago. But I might go. Anyone camping?

valthun 04-15-2008 02:22 PM

I just registered for the LA event. Can't wait to go. Just threw down 40 bucks for me and the girl. Maybe I will finally meet some of you in LA. Although I have met 1 or 2. But not nearly enough.

howdyem 04-15-2008 10:47 PM

For the LA event... is there going to be a course that we can drive our mini's on?

According to my MTTS feed, at 3:36pm this afternoon, they updated events for Miami. http://blog.minitakesthestates.com/2...of-events.html
Perhaps they'll be updating info for other venues soon!

More massages? I never got one last time!
Movie night? I hope they get the projectors to work!

leslie 05-02-2008 10:10 PM

Dave and I will be attending the LA (Pasadena) event. I don't know how I feel about driving to Pasadena from West LA on a Friday evening, but we'll definitely be there for the Saturday and Sunday activities.

I don't drive that often in traffic anymore, much less on a Friday evening, so I'm probably overdue.

Agro 05-04-2008 02:09 PM

I signed up and paid my $20 for the LA edition.
