Just a little over a week away!!!

We will be leaving on the 18th. I-81 to lancaster co. PA (8 hours for us) stop for lunch at "The Shady Maple" Smorgesborg:grin: . Then up to Mt. Pocono for the night. 19th- taking Delaware-Water Gap scenic drive to route 44. this looks like a scenic route all the way to Plymouth! Plus we get to see the world's largest bug! (We check out roadsideamerica.com for weird roadside attractions!) We'll look for all ya'll's cars at F1 Boston Fri. night!

Red Dragoon 06-09-2008 05:58 PM

We're heading up Friday early p.m., picking up our daughter in Providence, RI, then on to Boston for check-in and festivities. We'll be staying with our daughter Fri and Sat nights at her apartment which is only 45 minutes away from the home of the World Series Champion Red Sox.

Hope we can meet.

We look forward to meeting you Red Dragoon & Mini Bean!

Mini*In*Flux 06-10-2008 02:20 AM

Anybody heading to Boston through I-90W? I'll be leaving on Friday afternoon from upstate NY (possibly with BF in tow) I'd love to meet some other MINIs on the way.

Flying Finn -- Philly to Boston

We plan to attend the events in Philadelphia Wednesday evening / Thursday morning, then motor to the Mahwah / Warwick events, then onto Boston for the finale.

I take it from the comments here that there is no official MINI sponsored route and that all participants are on their own getting to the destinations, so if any others are tackling the Philly -- Mahwah / Warwick -- Boston combination, or are interested in some serious caravaning back to the Mid-West (we're in Louisville, KY) after Boston is finished, you are welcome to hook up with us.

Happy Motoring !!

They have their daily schedule and some "on the way" suggestions ...
http://blog.minitakesthestates.com/2...ton-rally.html

In '06 they handed out daily "straight" and "alternate" route proposals - but even then they were careful to emphasize that you were on your own, it wasn't any sort of MINI caravan (probably limiting liability that way).

Maybe they'll still hand out routes each morning?

HHFD633 06-12-2008 10:42 AM

anyone from RI going to Boston?

clayvt 06-12-2008 02:21 PM

I dont know what to do! i have to work friday and Sat. in Burlington, VT but i already registered for Boston. the only thing i can think of is get out of work on friday, go to F1 go back to VT sat morning and then back down for Sat night and Sunday. does this sound crazy? And will there be anybody from VT or NH going down friday?

Red Dragoon 06-12-2008 04:36 PM

Doesn't sound crazy at all, and what better way to participate in MTTS '08 than driving those cool curving roads up and down the mountains of New England a couple of round trips?

An alternative would be to declare a personal or vacation day or two, if you can. Or come down with something Friday that puts you out of action till Sunday, IF you can get away with it.

Hope you can swing what's best for you.

I would love to "call in sick" but when working full time for the military...its kinda hard...i think ill just be doing a lot of driving...:)

Red Dragoon 06-12-2008 07:02 PM

I had a feeling calling in sick was not an option, from the way you'd put it in your posting. Safe motoring, then, on your round-trips.

On the MINI-USA website it said "$20 online, $30 onsite." (per person) Need to print the barcode for online.

This money went to the local MINI club's designated charity.

I was given a complete Miami to Boston booklet that includes all stops in between and addresses for all hotels and meets in route to Boston.
And while in Miami I also got a Bicentennial Park to Homestead Motor Speedway route map printed on heavy MINI card stock.

Can you make out the estimated direction the convoy would take once they are entering Connecticut ?
A few of us might either greet or join and are wondering if they take I-95 all the way or go up I-84 or even some secondary roads ?! Thanks !
