Yeah, Boston has Fountains of Wayne. I'll be crankin' up the volume on "Stacy's Mom" all the way from New Jersey.
Can't wait:wink: |

I am guessing you are the lone Mid-South MINIac going to this. Have you heard if anyone else is going? Tracy had mentioned going to LA at one time, but I haven't heard if she decided to go for sure.
Also the bands are up...and the very much hyped by the MINI rep at MOTD band, the Goo Goo Dolls, are not even playing! :( |

Have you checked over at NEMINI.org ?

Boston-Where is the meet & greet?
Sorry, if this is a stupid question, never been to a rally before. the site says Baintree, MA? Is this on the campus of UMass? How can I get directions to the exact location? Thanks for helping a newbie?

Thanks So Much!
I didn't even know what F1 Boston was! Boy I feel stupid now! Looks like Fun! Thanks so much for the info!
P.S. I have one more question... We are saving our money in hopes of finding some nice accessories for our mini there at the rally. Will there be vendors there selling rims, badges, shirts, shift knobs and the like?--Thanks again |
NYC area looking for a caravan to MTTS Boston too. I posted a note on NEMINI.ORG as well.

Going to MTTS Boston

My wife and I will be traveling up from DE on Thursday the 19th. We will be following 95 until we get into CT - from there it will be 15 back to 95. Should be in NYby 10ish on the 19th. Where are you staying? Bob BBOPP |
Where is everyone staying? Near Boston or Braintree? We are leaving Friday and would love to cruise up together. We are going to stop in at the philly event hosted by OTTO's. We will be booking a room today or tommarow.

Staying south of Boston

Braintree is south of UMASS, about 15 miles I think. We are still deciding where to stay. Where are you coming from?

We are coming from the mountains of TN!
We live in the NE mtns. of TN- on the 18th (my birthday!) driving up I-81 to Gettysburg PA, then just rambling through the Poconos, and Catskills and tking backroads to MA. But this could change- what event is going on in Philadelphia?
|
We're doing the DoubleTree on Vernon St... hey, we're not going to Greece this year so we have the opportunity to splurge on three nice nights in the Tree. Plus it's our 5 year wedding anniversary weekend. :-) Gotta live it up a little.
From the maps I've seen the DT is right there at the UMASS gathering site. I could be wrong but I think that's it. |
More rambling travel thoughts... I'm also pondering the route to take to get to Boston... just shooting up I-95N is easy, albeit, BORING. There are plenty of other routes. I used to take I-84E when I live in western CT to the Mass Pike (I-90E) and then headed into the zone of driving chaos to Cambridge. With the lovely gas prices I'm not sure how much I want to out of my way and nonchalantly burn the fossil fuel.
I suspect the Garmin will lead us on RT 287 E/S to the TappanZee Bridge and then over to 95N... Choices. Choices. Either way I want to end up in SOME sort of MINI caravan. It's a lot more fun that way. Don't forget your GMRS radios on CH7-1. |
I'm planning to take the Tappan Zee to the Hutch which turns into Merritt/15, to I 91, to I 84 then to Mass Pike.
That's my usual route to Boston. I really enjoy the Merritt/15 combo for the scenery and curves. But the lack of shoulder, merge and the wildlife makes it for a white knuckle exprience  . I compared the ETA between my usual route and what my TomTom suggested which is I 95 and it's only about a 20 minute difference. |
You're right, the Merritt is a nice ride especially if it's not backed up with traffic. Might be a good alternate to consider.
|
I like to avoid the 95 b/c of truck traffic and constuction. I remember a couple of huge accidents involving trucks. One was when tanker truck caught fire and a section of 95 overpass was melted?
But when I was on my way up to Boston a couple of years ago, I got stuck in the Merritt for about an hour b/c a box truck wandered on  . |
Our stay is confirmed, we will be leaving Reading PA area before noon and heading for the
Holiday Inn Express Boston 69 Boston St. Can't wait to see everyone. |
All times are GMT -7. The time now is 08:13 AM. |
