MTH-friendly CAI + Header + Exaust combo ?
MTH-friendly CAI + Header + Exaust combo ?
Hello, fellow NAMs !
Planning to start with performance mods on my Cooper (non-S).
What would you recommend to get (on a reasonable budget) that will work best with the MTH software (assuming I'll get the Tuner file once everything is installed) please ?
Also - what's that thing with most of the headers being "off-road only" ? Does it mean that once I install one I wouldn't be able to pass an inspection ?
I'd really like to get a "smooth" setup at the end - my biggest grunt right now is the performance and smoothness at the low revs.
Thanks
Regards
Bor.

I think you are best off calling don and precision mini and asking him those questions. Afaik it goes the othe way around and hte mth software works with your mods. That being the case I think read up do some research and pick the mods you like the most.
Most of those headers are above legal noise levels and don't have cats (most people weld them on though). I believe technically your car wouldn't pass an inspection but I believe many people install them and don't have too many troubles.

Definetly send Don an e-mail and ask. He basically gave me an upgrade path for my S while keeping in mind that money was an issue. However, I can say that just the file will make a world of difference if you start there.
Most headers do not come with a CAT and therefore are referenced for "off-road only". There are headers that come with a CAT or you can add a CAT or you can recycle your stock CAT - either way you should be able to pass an inspection.
