COM port settings for serial cable?

What are the COM port settings in Windows necessary to use the serial-OBD (MONO-COM) cable?

The MTH web sites don't mention this critical item...

Go to Device Manager

Right-click on Com port -- Properties

turn on flow control

Set it to a com port that is not used by another software (1 to 5 works for CarTune)

Set Bits per Second high enough (aroung 115 200)

Also, make sure to turn everything else off, and to switch off screensaver and power properties!

Correct...but when downloading/uploading dont expect it to be MEGA fast (even though its set at 115 200) as it still takes a couple of minutes

I beleive the Cooper's ISO-9141-2 (AKA K Line) runs at 9600. I'll go double check my laptop at lunch.

yes 9600 rings a bell...so no matter how high you set the laptop/computer it wont download/upload any faster
