Trip Planning
All,
I am planning my trip right now and have a questions. I plan to leave Wednesday morning from DFW and drive straight through to somewhere near Rye Co to see Bishop's castle. I saw it semi regularly from the mid 70's until the 80's when I stopped going up to the family cabin with the family. Now in my 40's stuff like that interests me again and I want to show it to my wife. I have zero personal knowledge of that side of Colorado and need to know where to stay, which town anyway. I am traveling with pets. I want to stay as close as possible so I can get up Thursday morning, see the castle and then high tail it up to Denver for lunch and then Winter Park for the afternoon.

I would suggest Colorado City has some very small motels in that area or you could stay over in one of the cities a bit west of Bishop's.
Never stayed in any of them, so they could be nice or they could be flea-bags.
Try right around Colorado City just off of I25, best bet I think.
Have a great trip up and super visit, Bishop's is getting more and more interesting each year.
