Thanks for getting the audio posted Greatbear, they turned out great!

You can definitely tell the header makes the cat-backs louder. The direct comparisons are great for everyone. This thread should now officially be "stickied"!

We hope to have even more variety at next years Exhaust Shootout. I agree that one person must do the actual throttle modulations during the recording so we can get each measurement as close to the same as possible. An under-load drive-away is a great idea too!

Of course, Minzilla was the funniest part of the Shootout!

AWESOME! Thanks for posting this! Was starting to get skeptical on the Magnaflow because of a video clip I saw where it sounded like CRAP, but your sound clip reassures me that the video itself is what was CRAP. Magnaflow, here I come!

To the best of my knowledge it was always scheduled for around 4pm Fri., before the chili cookoff. We were going to try some more the next morning before the dam picture before it was moved to Fri morning. Sorry you missed it.

Well I cant wait to find out! My ship sets sail on the 16th but wont be in until June 17th!! Do you know if the Magnaflow has a fix for the hanger issue with the '04 model? Im starting to think that I am on some twisted game show where MINI is trying to torture me! Ive been waiting since February 22nd! First was told mid may delivery, then was told that I had missed that months amount of allotted cars by 1 ( )! Then I was told an early June delivery, now its a late June! Next thing you know Ill be 90 years old and still no damn MINI!!!

I have a digital recorder that I could use to record your exhaust. I work just up the road from you, so I could come by and record it for you and post it on the site. I can use a similiar setup as Greatbear. Let me know.

Thanks for posting the audio clips, they all sound great. This is the first ime in over a year that I have heard what mine sounds like from the outside. For some reason, never really on the outside with the engine running.

If possible, for next year, would it be possible to have a controlled drive-by audio sample as well. While all of these sound great, I know that they will sound even better when the whole system is under load.

Once again guys, great job and very objective in the way the sampling was done.

i have had some good idea's for next years EX Shoot out! more details to come in the next few months, but everyone will love the new format! i think ryans mom gave me the great idea's..lol rock n' roll!

 

Anyone know where the final exhaust shootout thead is? I followed the link at the bottom of this thread: Dragon Exhaust Shootout? , but the link is dead.

I know there's the sticky MCS exhaust thread, but I'm looking for Cooper clips. I seem to remember seeing a Borla for Cooper in the thead... well, when it was somewhere to be found

 

Take a look here. This was recorded the year before, I made no modifications between 2003 and the Shootout in 2004. It is my MINI in both.

Half year old thread but here goes - did the exhaust comparo ever happen? Where can I find the results?
