>>Anyone know if there is a car wash in Robbinsville? Traveling 570 miles to the event tends to make your MINI a wee bit dirty
Yes -- self service car wash just down the street from the Microhostel in Rville.

>>there's a power wash in Maryville,TN (i use it after the 800 mile drive before i get into the woods)
>>and i beliveve there's one in Robbinsville, as well (remember driving by one in the fall)
>>if ya bring a hose i'll let you hook it up at my cabin (if i can use it)
>>
You know, that is an EXCELLENT idea....
I'll bring my mr clean powerwasher if someone else will bring a hose....

Think someone could give me directions on getting to the Tapoco Lodge coming south on 129 out of Tennessee? I'm gonna try and burn through the night to make the Mini Parade on the 30th. Danke!
Sarcux - once you get through The Dragon, you'll hit The Crossroads of Time (aka Deals Gap). Veer to the right, and only a few miles down will be Tapoco Lodge, which is still on hwy-129. It's the only thing for miles, but be on the lookout - I have a bad habit of missing the entrance!
See you there!

Once you cross the bridge after the crossroads of time, the next thing on your right is the Tapoco entrance. Ryephile is right about it being somewhat hidden around a right hand turn after the bridge.
Crossroads of Time? How cool! Thanks for the advice, mates. I can also look for Minis I guess... lol. Hope the carwash is open in the early AM... or at least the weather nice when I'm driving down. I'll have my new Parada Spec IIs! Just ordered them! Going to the tire rack on the 10th to get 'em installed on my s-lites... woo!
ANYONE NEEDING A ROOM?? PM me, as I have a room reservation at the Microtel that I will not be using ( booked a room at the Fontana). Send me your name / and a day time phone # and I will transfer my Microtel reservation to you . It is for the nights of 4/29/30 and 5/1 and is in the MINI cooper block

>>Only car wash at Tapoco is the river.
Well, they used a Union Jack Mini as a submarine in Austin Powers 3... maybe I can too...

Anyone here a fan of Steam Railroads?
Mark has collected the entire Dragon’s weekend agenda at https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/dragon/.
Guess what – NOTHING IS HAPPENING ON SUNDAY, May 2nd.
So here is an idea I floated to the Balto/Wash area folks. How about Steam Powered MINI Excursion. Take a look at the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad website. Then click on the Schedules/Fares button and take a look at the Tuckasegee River Excursion.
So the idea is to get a MINI group together for the Sunday excursion leaving Dillsboro at 1 PM for a 4 hour trip. Dillsboro is about 50 miles on NC28/US19/US74 from the Fontana. After just floating the idea in this area, I got 8-10 people who indicated an interest. If we can get 20, then we get a small (like 10%) group discount.
The GSMR people indicate that tickets should be reserved at least 7 days in advance. So let me make this offer: If people are interested, we will go ahead and make the group reservation. Please let me know NLT April 20th. PM is fine at mailto:w3iwi@toad.net
Regards, Tom & Elizabeth
