So what's up with Mini Meet East Meets West 2009?
Has anyone heard any additional planning details regarding this planned event?
Our club is attempting to lay out our schedule for 2009. We had our eye on this summertime event for some time since it would both have a national flavor and be relatively close geographically allowing us to provide good local representation.
However, the perceived lack of planning activity is causing us some concern. The website for the event (http://www.minimeet09.org/Default.aspx) has been static for some time. There are apparently no commitments from vendors, as none are listed. There's been very little activity here on NAM -- just an exploratory thread started last February and a brief poll in October soliciting interest in a track event.
The event website includes the three initial sponsoring groups, and what you discover on that page is this:
-- The Minnesota United MINIs icon is not a link -- no information
-- The 'Sota MINIs link takes you to their club website, but I can find no information there related to the 2009 event
-- The MMPEAPSHA website hasn't been updated in almost a year
I'm very much hoping that this event comes off as originally planned and is a success, but the lack of available information doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence.
Anyone out there in NAM-land with additional info?

We're here!!
Sorry for the slow response and lack of info thus far.
But yes - things are progressing. I'm attending as many meetings as I can and we're getting things in line. We're expecting to release a formal announcement in early January <cross fingers>.
I'll review my past postings and update as needed or start a new thread for information and post that here.
Thanks for the interest!
Adam
*EDIT
I'll add info to the original thread which can be found here.

Outstanding. Appreciate your response, and glad to hear the news. We'll continue to hold these dates in our club calendar.
Eastern Iowa MINIs plans to be well represented at this event!

When will "details" be available? New MINI people need to understand what $95 dollars will get them. "Show & Shine, Funkhana, Rally" is too sketchy. No mention of photo contest and dozens of fun events as in the past. May I assume that the website will be more descriptive of what the event involves?

Details will be coming. Registration is close to being open, a couple bugs and final details are being worked out.
In the meantime this will help:
Show and Shine: a car show. we'll have several different classes for both classic and new MINI.
Funkhana: From the MINI Meet West 2005 website:
Funkhana is a low speed timed event, involving stopping, starting, backing up, and performing various zany antics along the way. Funkhana is driven by a team of driver and co-driver, with plenty of activities for both participants. We don’t want to give away too much, but the word “fun” is right in the title. It’s fun to watch, too. Awards will be given in various classes for both classic and new Mini.
Rally: just a scenic drive with a route provided
