SOLD SOLD SOLD
Hello,
Up for sale is my 2004 MINI Cooper S with the John Cooper Works Tuning Kit. This MINI started out as a MC40- Monte Carlo Commemorative Edition and had the John Cooper Works Tuning Kit added on at the dealership. The history of this car is very well documented. I have the original paperwork for the JCW kit, the certificate and also the MC40 Commemorative items that are currently not installed on the car (magnets, badge, plaque, etc.). The car has been converted to a full facelift car, which sets it apart from other MC40’s on the road.
My intentions when I bought this car a year ago was to bring it to Monterey Car Week this year (2019) as am OEM+ JCW example with all the rare parts on it. I sourced a ton of rare JCW parts when I went to Europe last year and also parts I’ve found through various contacts. Unfortunately with Monterey Car Week being cancelled and life getting in the way I’ve decided to part ways with this MINI. It, in all honesty is probably worth substantially more parted out than being sold as whole. Some of these simple items have skyrocketed in price in the last two years.
A little bit about the car with full disclosure and transparency. This MINI currently has 116k on the odometer. This has always been a Southern California car it’s entire life. I bought it from a dealer last year on a whim and actually got in contact with the second owner who was also friends with the first owner. On top of that, I was also able to get in contact with the previous owner prior to the dealer taking possession of it. The car does have an accident reported on Carfax and Autocheck but it has all original paint (I have a paint meter I can show you). I asked the previous owner what happened and he said that there was an accident which he was indirectly involved in. There was a multi car accident behind him and one of the cars gently rolled into him. The car still has the same rear bumper as it did then.
Let's be honest, most if not all R53 will need a lot of work, most seller's just won't disclose it. Shortly after I bough the car I had Scott at Motoring Magic look through the car. We took care of the valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, coil pack, spark plug wires, JCW spec plugs, upper, and lower engine mounts and also the transmission mount. One of the JCW 380CC injectors went bad and all 4 were replaced as well (precautionary). Some of the brittle coolant fittings were also replaced. It looks like at some point, someone replaced the crank pulley with a new one as well. The tensioner, belt, timing chain tensioner were also changed out by Scott. Oil and coolant was flushed and Liqui Moly oil was added along with Liqui Moly Ceratec. The transmission oil was exchanged out too. I have driven the car less than 1,500 miles since this work was done. What I’d recommend is a new clutch, suspension, brakes. I have already bought the majority of the items brand new needed to finish the car and upgrade it at the same time. I'll be including the parts in my asking price. There is also a small tear on the CV boots, but apart from what is mentioned before, this car has no other mechanical issues I’m aware of or any leaks.
With the aforementioned maintenance required, my original plan was to pull the front end and do all the work in one shot. I have already bought most of the parts and will be including it in the price of the car. What you’ll be receiving/not yet installed are:

As you can see with the above list, this car is probably financially better to part out and sell stock. Cosmetically I have also spent a fortune last year having Shane at All Out Dent spend two whole days working his magic removing every dent via PDR on this MINI. As a detailing enthusiast and a member on Obsessed Garage, I’ve gone through a complete detailing regimen with this car.
Everything works as it should, there are no check engine lights, no abnormal noises from the engine, AC works great, car doesn’t overheat, etc. I’m more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the car as well.
The car is located in Southern California, at this time I do not want to part the car out and would rather sell it whole to someone who understands the value of these parts and can finish this MINI off. Overall I have easily double what I’m asking invested into this car as I had no intentions of selling this R53. I can send any buyers a copy of the Carfax and Autocheck report, I have a clean California title on hand, you're more than welcome to get a PPI at a MINI dealer or an independent mechanic of your choice.

I'd buy this car right now... if I didn't just buy one from Joseph (AlphaMotoring) last year. His cars are meticulously gone through...and he discloses everything...
An honest seller that I would not hesitate to buy anything from.
Given what other, lesser, cars have gone for on BAT etc... this one is a huge value given what the car is...
All of the PITA work is done.... and yes... clutch job is a big ticket item... but it will then be done... and most if not all R53's need them even though most don't get them.
In a car that has this mileage... I won't hesitate when motoring magic and/or Joseph give it the thumbs up...
Dang.... wish I had more loot right now.
Good luck with the sale Joseph... someone is going to get one of the nicest spec'd R53's on the planet for a bargain.
