Looking for 2005-2006 JCW
Year: 2005
Make: MINI
Model: Coupe
Price: $10000
Mileage: 90000
Color: Any
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (Region): NorthEast
I'm looking to buy a good condition 2005 or 2006 R53 JCW. Lower mileage preferred. Clean and well-maintained preferred. I'm in the Northeast but willing to travel a bit for the right one. The northeast seems to be lacking JCWs.

JCW performance can be attained by fitting a reduction pulley to the supercharger on a Cooper S model.
#3
JCW is more likely to have factory LSD as well
I can understand the appeal of wanting a JCW because it's 210hp right out of the box, and the added cachet of it being a Works car makes it sort of special.
Jahboto,
have you seen this one?

There's also a good looking one in Indiana for an excellent price, but it is listed as a "lemon" on Cargurus,
a good looker though!

You could order an LSD (option 2TA) effective with January 2005 builds.
I'm just saying the OP shouldn't limit his search to cars with the JCW Tuning Kit.

The JCW Package (option 3AL) which included the JCW Tuning Kit, JCW Sport Brakes and LSD wasn't available until November 2005 builds. This option could only be ordered in conjunction with the Sport Package. These two options added $7,700 to the sticker price. I wonder how many of people were willing to pay this much.

They are hard to come by and a well-sorted S can easily meet or exceed the JCW with a little work, as you said.

I am definitely not limited to the JCW tuning kit. I just figured I'd start there as they are some of the hardest to come by. I am open to an MCS being brought up to similar JCW specs or even just a normal MCS, since I can do some work myself, such as fitting the reduction pulley to the supercharger.

This is a pretty good deal. Would buy it myself but I hate sunroofs.

Go for a 2006 factory car with a limited slip.
There are some around the northeast, but when they pop up for sale they are often grabbed quickly unless the price is too high.

Derek86 - I am going to check out the one Oldboy recommended, in a couple of weeks.

It has everything I want and seems to be reasonably priced. I noticed lack of JCW exhaust tips and some front end chip damage but that's about it. Engine pics were fine. I have not driven or seen the underbody but I expect minimal, if any, issues due to the way it was kept.

Thinking about putting mine up for sale. '06 Factory JCW, Hyper Blue Cabrio, 6spd, Limited Slip, Harmon Kardon, JCW Sport Brakes, HIDs, Chrono Pkg, Leather, Heated Seats. 18" R105s or 17" Web Spokes. Michelin AS3 tires and JCW center caps on both. Less then 1K miles on tires. Approx 25.5K Miles. Located in Orlando.
Too busy with work and kids to drive it like it needs to be driven.

The LSD IMO is what makes a MINI. On the HP, a quick rule of thumb is that for every 15 PSI of boost you add, the horsepower is doubled. You take a stock S that is putting out around 10 PSI of boost and add a 17% supercharger reduction pulley (or a 15% and a 2% Way ATI crank pulley overdrive) you start pushing 16 PSI or more of boost. Do the math for the HP increase. Throw on a Detroit Tuned BPV and you get a little more boost (gas mileage will suffer as the foot factor is very hard to overcome).
Now back to the LSD, I have a friend with a S that has the 17% pulley, big brakes, lowered springs, the BPV, a stiffer rear swaybar and no LSD. He is a very good driver and runs over both Gen2 and Gen3 cars pushing much more boosted horsepower.
