That Cleveland car is the sort of ride I'm tempted by, I like most of the mods and the price is damn good considering all the $$$ spent on aftermarket goodies.
Defenders of Speed was before my time but I recognize their logo from my maniacal research! LOL
Always neat to see the various design and approach of some of the stuff from back when there were many different companies making R53 components.

your maniacal research skills are on point! It’s great to have guys like you on this forum. I learn and see a lot from your posts.

The Defenders of Speed copper-cored intercooler was supposed to work great. I passed on one for sale at a track day a few years back because I didn’t know if was good/leaking or not. I guess it would have been easy to swap out for a test drive, but I didn’t think of that at the time.
Looks like they need a good clean, condition and put back into service!!
Would be great in almost any color 53/56 !
Oh man at that price, I’m tempted to jump right on that. But for some reason, I think the English leather suits the car just a little bit better to me. The lounge clamshell style design just doesn’t look right in comparison. Plus I like the sound of “English leather” lol. But that is a great find.
More of a warning than a 'good deal on CL' - I drove this and got a PPI done on it when the PO was trying to sell it privately. There are some serious issues with the front suspension and the steering column (basically, the PPI showed it needed two new front struts, 2 new strut mounts, a new steering column and a new power steering pump) and the drivers seat looks like its been through 250k miles
The visit to Northwest Mini on 1/8/21 on the Carfax report is the PPI I had done.
It is also NOT a one-owner car: the PO bought it from Carmax when he worked there (original owner sold it to them and it was too old for Carmax to put on the lot).

I'm curious what would cause it to need a new steering column
This listed on CL four days ago, 10k less miles, at same price. Definitely some great performance upgrades. Earlier model, not as original, but maybe a better value. https://charleston.craigslist.org/ct...283554910.html

On the BaT one, that chatty video narration must have gotten him an extra $500 (or maybe it cost him $500, not sure, lol).
I think I'd take the Charleston CL '02 over the BaT one. Looks cleaner, longer-term owner, nice mods and those SSR wheels are hard to find and expensive. .

These are the quirks of searchtempest. I’ve searched multiple times per day, and this is the first time I saw the 02 posted 4 days ago. Must be an algorithm type of thing.
do you guys prefer pre facelift xenon or facelift xenons?
Good question - I much prefer facelift xenons . . . but the pre-facelift xenons are so clear and shiny on my new-to-me 2002 that I'm actually going to stick with them and not do a swap to the newer ones
