Looking forward to seeing where the hammer falls on that BaT JCW...
...in the meantime,
what about an actual old school classified ad from the back pages of a car magazine?
Noticed it in the latest issue of Classic Motorsports which arrived in the mail last week just before I left town for work --- couldn't resist the bundle deal package on that mag when subscribing to GRM.
Yea, I think this one checks a lot of boxes... chrono, most of the Aero parts (with the missing rear Aero bumper being people's least favorite anyway), anthracite headliner, rear fog with switch, low miles, good color combo, unmolested (aside from the hideous pin striping), web spokes, etc...
Needs paint correction, detailing, and some deferred maintenance taken care of (just going by color of expansion tank), and who knows what other perishables in that same vein, but this is the state of R53 (or any BMW) I like to buy in. Virtually all original, good spec, low miles for the year, with just light refurbishment needed.
JAYSUS!
That's some sketchy sloppy striping right there,
geez it sure is goofy lookin'.
Although I do admire the artistry when done correctly,
especially as found on hot rods or low riders...
I agree... a good pinstripe or art on a Mere Lead-sled or other hotrod/streetrod.... looks great....
Lots of different people in the world... and different mods..... some like pinstriping.... loud exhausts, lowering their rides, wide/stretched tires, 'recaro' style seats, huge subwoofers, aero kits, the list is endless.
For me... if a mod is reversible (like a little wet sand and polish.... and I don't like it... doesn't generally hinder purchase for ME .

Just now got CL search alert on a car which seemingly sets a new high bar - one that most shoppers (like me) couldn't manage to clear. So many super nice cars within reasonable budget (perhaps like the 2006 R53 JCW highlighted above) are too far away requiring costly transport. That one also being a dealer would require AZ sales tax be collected here upon registration (not applicable with private party sales) on top of BaT 5% buyer fee. This particular car is about a hour drive away, however pointless for me to even go see and evaluate:

Any idea why this car hasn't apparently been sold after being posted for 11 weeks? Aside from the mileage, I cant see why this wouldn't sell in 5 minutes for $5k? Sure is tempting.
