The Enthusiast owned Mark VII Mini offered here offers big fun in a small package. The car was originally manufactured for the Japanese market optioned as Sunroof Delete, Mini Lite Wheels, Air Conditioning, and Right Hand Drive. Cosmetically the car remains very tidy inside and out, showing all the signs of consistent care and enthusiastic ownership. Converted mileage is 80931 miles (title shows what actual odometer reads in km). Mechanically, this spirited little Mini has a huge fun factor as the unassisted steering is direct and full of feedback, while the wheel-at-each corner stance and firm suspension gives it outstanding agility and handling; the familiar whine of the 4 speed gearbox and tuneful exhaust enhances the overall motoring experience. Documentation includes: Service records, forum correspondence, hand written notes and settings, and all the resources one would need to keep in line with its responsible ownership.

The Mini Mk Vll's are the most advanced version and the true Mini's of the UK, they encompass the same lovable character that made the original 1961 original such a smashing hit. For this reason, these cars are collectible and are considered investments. In this case, size truly does not matter. This Rover Mini is titled as a 1978.

New tires and wheel bearings recently installed. A real blast to drive. The color is a greenish tinted blue (shows better in the outdoor photos than the indoor ones).

The car currently has a loan against it which needs to be paid off before the title is released.

How can a 1996 Mini be titled as a 1978?

Classic Minis in the USA have to be titled as 25 years or older. This is pretty standard.

I know but I didn't think it was legal to re-VIN a car less than 25 years old.

I wouldn't be advertising it as a 1996

yes. please elaborate. I'm in the market for a classic mini and I keep seeing mid 90's re-vined as 70's models?
Advertised blatantly as so.
Why is it no one is worried about getting their cars taken?
I read an article about land rovers being seized for similar reasons.
I'd really love to have a mid 90's mini but not if it's going to get seized.

mercedes started the process of the 25 year ban and its helped their sales ever since , it was cheaper to buy them there and ship them here so they helped implement it. The biggest cars you hear about with this law are the skylines getting taken all the time only now can the 25 year old ones come over and be titled are they legal this car may be sellable but you may get a knock on your door. Good luck its a sharp little ride

I'd also be very concerned about insurance companies denying a claim if they discover the mfr date issue after an accident.

It's a stupid law and needs to be returned back to the 15 year standard. Newer cars (relatively speaking) will have more safety gear installed like airbags and ABS. Why deny entry to safer cars yet allow much older cars to enter?
