Is this leather or leatherette?

I am looking at a used 2006 on the internet. The owner says the interior is leather, though I am skeptical. I have included a picture. What do you gurus think?

Many people assume that it is leather; however, mini only offered the gray and black combo in leatherette.

Looks like leatherette to me. I was looking at used MINI's before I ordered mine and most places would list it as leather even though it was leatherette.

That's synthetic cow.... but you should know, BMWs leatherette is quite good, maybe superior in wearability to real leather. I ordered MINI leather once, but I actually like the leatherette better, fewer wrinkles, tighter upholstery

I agree with BartMack the synthetic cow is quite good and I would do it again, but I also like the leatherette better.

Hmm, i wouldn't trust the seller much to be accurate about the car after that

Perhaps he can provide a copy of his sales contract or window sticker so you can be sure of the equipment..

I find the easiest way to tell the difference between a MINI with authentic leather or a MINI with leatherette is by looking at the back seat. The leather equipped MINIs back seat have a lot more stitching in the seat, whereas the leatherette's just have one piece of material. If only I had a picture to show you what I am talking about...

Here's a picture of the leather - you can see the vertical line through the middle of each rear seat that's not present in the vinyl seats, as well as the extra stitching.

call Mini USA give them the VIN and they will tell you exactly what the car has.
