FS: 2005 MCS JCW - $25.9k - DS/10k mi.
FS: 2005 MCS JCW - $25.8k - DS/10k mi. - REDUCED
Hi All!
I have reluctantly decided to sell my Mini:
I've done a few minor things to my MCS JCW... I really like it, so much that I want to buy one with exactly the packages that fit me. So I was thinking about selling this one so I could get another. It runs great, I have an all-highway commute with no traffic (less than a mile of non-highway drive) and I've averaged as much as 30.9 MPG (according to the computer, not sure how accurate that is), and never below 24 MPG (maybe I'm not "driving" it?). I've gone pretty easy on it as it's my first ever "nice" car - it's been a dream to own a sports car, and that's exactly what this car is. It has:
- just over 10,000 miles
- Cold Weather Package (heated seats, washer jets, etc.)
- I put DS aero side skirts on it
- K&N filter inside the stock JCW intake box
- I put on a hidden hitch which I have yet to use with the Thule 665 hitch box I recently purchased for it, it has the trailer light kit (for use with the lights built into the hitch box) - this thing is awesome, as far as I know I am the only one with this config.
- rain-sensing wipers
- auto-dimming mirror
- computer thingy (mileage, range, etc. - forgot the exact name of it)
- xenon lights
- Chrono package
- Interior Chrome
- dealer installed JCW kit
- professionally tinted by same tinter who does Brecht BMW/Mini tinting, lifetime warranty
- black hood stripes with Chrome accents (can easily be removed) from Mighty Stripes
- OEM driving lights
- Fog lights
- front and back OEM all-weather floor mats
- MINI OEM boot organizer
- MINI OEM outdoor car cover, always put my cover on when I get home from work
- MINI glove box organizer
- I have a spare set of JCW wheels and run-flat tires with it that have only 4700 miles on them
Only problem is it has a BB size rock chip on the roof (grrr). I am the only one who hand-washes it using Klasse products. I dust and spot detail it every day and put the cover on it to try and keep it perfect. I would only sell to buy another, not entirely sure if I should sell (depends on how much I could get for it). If someone offered me $27k, I'd probably sell it immediately, but I don't think I can get that much for it (except maybe in San Fran - it is posted on Craigslist there and San Diego). I get lots of attention and compliments on it (thus, I want another, but with my specific config). I have a clear/clear California title in hand with no leans. I am not eager to sell and won't if I can't get a good price on it so I'm starting at $25,500 obo. As time goes on, price will naturally lower.
Thanks for looking. I appreciate your time and thoughtful comments.

Trying to clarify which packages you have. As far as I can tell, you have the Cold Weather, JCW, and Sport Package (at least in 2006, if you want the JCW, you must first select the Sport Package -- don't know if 2005 was the same). From your description, you say you have the auto-dimming rear view mirror, trip computer [thingy], and rain-sensing wipers -- did you get the convenience package then (you didn't explicitly list the universal garage door opener and auto on/off headlights -- but buying the fewer separate options that you've listed as opposed to the Convenience Package would have actually cost you more, so I'm guessing you have the Convenience Package?) . No mention of sunroof, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, or automatic climate control in you post -- so I'm assuming you didn't get the Premium Package or any of the aforementioned options?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to clarify the information in your post for myself.
You mention you have an 'extra' set of wheels -- which ones are installed (in the pics) and which ones are set aside? 17"? The ones in the pics look like the optional 17" anthracite wheels from the MiniUSA website.
Interested in your vehicle. If you could help clarify the options, that'd be great.

No worries, ask away.
I am the second owner, the first owner was a BMW enthusiast who owned BMW's his whole life and babied the car before he pass, his son was an Ivy League Univ. professor and sold it to me (he also owns an MCS). It has the packages and options as stated, unfortunately nothing more, but nothing less. Anthracite R99's pictured are installed, they have just over 1000 miles less on them than are on the car (I bought them from another NAM member). The other wheels/tires have 4700 miles on them and are picture here, also some pics of the interior there as well.

DOH! You're right, I forgot to mention the chrono package and interior chrome. I knew I'd forget something. I think that's it though. No other packages.

For 2006 models, if you want to select the JCW package, you must also select the Sport Package -- if the same thing was true in 2005, then yes, he must have the Sport Package. Does anyone know if that was true for 2005 models?
I reduced the price $100. I've decided to lower the price $100 every week or two until it sells. I am not in a hurry to sell, but I also don't want the car to see the snow and the snow will fly soon.

For the dealer installed JCW kit, the Sport pkg is not required. The Sport pkg is required for the factory installed kit - apparently because of very tight clearance between the JCW brakes and the 16" X-Lite wheels. The dealer installed kit does not include the brakes.

Sorry, no LSD
I just finished another tank of fuel, up to 10,500 miles and the computer told me I average 29.4 MPG on my hwy commute, and I usually drive 77MPH. I take it pretty easy, it's a straight shot and no traffic.

I had an idea to support the community that has supported me so well: I'm willing to offer a 2% discount for NAM members in 1st through third gear, 3% for 4th and higher. I'm willing to offer 1% of the purchase price for referral of a buyer as well (mutually exclusive).
Any thoughts?

OK, I got 31.1 MPG (per trip computer) going from Bishop, CA to Callabasas, CA with an average speed of 73.4 MPH and on the return trip I thought I would get less (4k' elevation change) but must have been more steady because I got 31.3MPG with an average speed of 72.7 MPH. I Love this car. I want another more like me
I forgot to mention that I have the MINI OEM outdoor car cover. 10k Service done @ Bob Smith Mini in Calabasas, CA - they also did a break flush. I also had the tires rotated back to front as my service advisor recommended it for even wear every 3-5k miles. Tires in in great shape, plenty of treat left.

Selling already? I remember your posts about a great deal on a JCW youve had a few months back.
Didn't you originally purchase this '05 JCW with 4.7k miles for $23.5k?
Are you charging $2000 to offset the 6000+ miles of use and addons?
Still a reasonable price imho

Can't blame him! Mini's are in high demand.
I ended up paying more, I was hoping I could get it for that but couldn't. Plus I had to pay almost $1k for shipping and bought the following:
wheels: $1,000 + shipping
tint: $250 (majorly discounted BMW dealer tint job)
stripes: $100
Hitch, brake light kit, hitch box: $800
OEM cover: $180
DS Aero side skirts: $500
front license plate thingy: $50
Taxes: $1700+ (thanks, California! I'm voting independant from now on, screw the two-party system).
Not that any of that should be recovered, but I'd like to recover what I can and simply get what the car is worth (more for my next MINI!). Every time I drive it down south and get 30+MPG and have fun driving it, I don't think I want to sell it... but in my boring, all-highway, no traffic daily commute I don't see a reason to have it... but I would like to have one, so I'd like one with the exact options I want, color, etc. to suite me better, to answer your question on part of your question, acitydweller. So yeah, I guess I'd like to recover the $2k for the pain int he **** it's been getting it hear, fixing it up, registering in in Cali, etc. - why not? If I can get it. A few inquiries here and there but nothing serious yet and I am not motivated to drop the price much (I would for a NAM member though) as I really do like it and I would only sell it if I got a good price for it.
