2005 MCS Super Cheap $18,000!!!

I am selling my Black/Black 2005 MCS for the extremly low price of 18,000. It includes:

-Sport Package
-Convenience Package
-Cold Weather Package
-Premium Package
-HID's (can't remember if they came in a package or not)
-LSD (factory installed)
-Ipod Adapter
-Aero Grille Kit
-15" RPF1 wheels w/ 205/50/15 Falken Azenis tires
-Autometer boost, and oil pressure gauges
-Front MCS factory rubber mats
-Hatch MCS factory rubber mat
-Beltline blackout
-Alta antenna
-20% tint all around (nothing in front)
-16% M7 pulley
-Alta intake (black tube, red filter)
-36,xxx miles

There is a problem with the car though, that will need repair prior to using as a daily driver. If you know your way around a toolbox it shouldn't be a problem, or a shop should be able to do the repair for around $2,000.

Please see this thread for further info on the problem: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=76773

Pictures are located in my gallery, and you can contact me at jacobpmueller@gmail.com or at 414-915-0710.

Upon realizing that in order for someone to have any incentive to buy this car as-is it would need to be a steal. I've decided to drop the price to $18,000 which even with repair work would make this car an amazing offer!!

I didn't mention it before, but the car is located in Long Beach currently in storage. I would fly out from Hawaii to complete a sale, but I don't think that test-drives would be possible.

Just for reference, the car is drivable at highway speeds, it would just get there very slowly. My MINI tech from Milwaukee said that it would be fine to drive a distance at minium highway speeds, and in very low boost. I drove it for a few miles after the plug popped w/o any problems.

I hope someone picks up this great deal soon!!

My 03 MCS blew a plug and a heatcert (sp) did not cost nearly $2,000.00 = under $500.00 and never had a problem in the year and a half since.

Also, I would not drive it at all until fixed.

Thanks for the input Earl!! I am assuming that the replacement of the head would be the only 100% fix ensure everything is back to factory...so that's what I'm factoring in the replacement cost.

I don't think I'll be able to do that from here. I will probably only head back to the mainland to complete the sale.

Why not just put on a new performance head? You can get a decent one for 1200-1400 and install it yourself. You'd lose less money than trying to sell it as is, and it'd take a LOT less time. I've been trying to sell my current car now for over a month and have gotten 2 phonecalls on it, not a good time to sell cars :-\.

Well, kind of a dumb question... Once the head would be reinstaled, would the warranty still be void? Or is it void at this time? Does it cover everything els than the motor?

There's no reason why it would be void as it is now. It's the Dealerships job to prove that any modifications done to the car caused the said failure. There's no way that an extra 12 HP from a pulley shot the spark plug out of the head. It should be covered under warranty. Modifying the head wouldn't do anything to the warranty other than void that particular part of the engine warranty. Read up on the Magnason Moss Act (Sp?)

I'm in Hawaii, and the car is in Long Beach. Flying back and doing repairs, or flying back and taking it to MINI for warranty work would take time that I don't have atm. I just started a new job, and can't afford to take off the week (or more) it would take for MINI to fix the car, and buying a new head, and doing the work myself (which I could easily do) would still cost the price of a head, and a ticket back to LB.

I am feel that offering it for 4k below bluebook would easily cover the cost of whichever maintenance road someone would choose, plus an incentive to buy the car in it's current state.

Wow. I'm just north of Long Beach by 20 minutes in Culver City, and I'm going to be in Hawaii for the next 7 days, and I've been looking for a deal on an MCS, and being Jet Black is an even better deal since I detail cars for a living and love black.....

Wow this is very attractive--thinking cap on in fast gear.....

Really sorry to hear about the problems. I've got a 2003 Cooper with 65,000 miles with pristine paint, but the pror reliability record of the Midlands scares me, but I couldn't afford a new MCS...

Is that cloth or Leatherette seats??

Jake,

I wanted to thank you. I know your relocation to Hawaii was met with an unfortunate crisis with the MINI, but I'm glad that things worked out for us. I will give the best care possible for your baby!

MINIclo
Thanks!! Now we have something else in common. =)

That's GREAT! I think that's a very happy ending to the story! You can't ask for anything better than selling your Mini to another respected NAM member... especially someone who takes such good care of vehicles in general.

Coop d'etat... do you plan on replacing it with a new Mini in HI? Keep us posted..good luck!

Interesting thing, after I washed the MINI, I noticed a dent in the bonnet, and after a little thought, realized that must have been the result of the spark plug projectile!!

Is it something a dentless repair can handle?

Those paintless dent repair guys are really imressive. Good ones can work near miracles without creasing or damaging paint.

I've had 3 dents pulled from my MC using a great PDR guy. Unfortunately the last time I used him, was his last--he quit due to major restructuring in the company.

Anyways, the dent was on the side of my bonnet and he fixed it, but he mentioned that one of the worst locations that makes it next to impossible to fix is on the bonnet itself. Because the shell is two layers (I believe) it makes it hard to get behind the actual dent. Also because it's structural, it's very thick and hard to work with. However, what MIGHT make this possible is that the dent is from the inside, so they would have to push the dent back in, not out from the back.

The dent isn't major, I only saw it because the reflections bent at the point of the impact. You can see it at the center of the circle where all the reflections converge to a point.

Hmm, I think Kenchan does PDR for a living, I wonder what his thoughts on this are???

Richard, keep it stealth for a while....all-Jet Black is soooooo gorgeous! I'm thinking of stripping Wanda back to no graphics.

I agree. However I really love what fjo has done with his MCS with the checkered roof on his all black MCS. Also Detlman aka Fireballed Brian's MCS looks really hot too. In my mind, the painted trim (arches and skirts) really suits the Jet Black perfectly.

I didn't notice that on the hood...but perhaps it was the 3 days of bugs and grime that needed to be washed off. I would assume that your idea would be correct about the plug hitting the bonnet, but through the rubber of the spark plug wire, it would have to have been a really solid hit. What does it look like from the underside?

A VIS carbon fiber hood only runs about $600 btw...Ill just throw that out there :P

Also...paint matched arches were on my to do list I think it really rounds out any solid color MINI.

Oh it was definitely because of the bugs and grime. It's not a big deal, as I said, I only saw it because I got it cleaned off enough that I could see reflections, and the reflection bent funny at that point.

I looked at the underside of the bonnet and there appears to be an impact crater in the liner at the same place--it's known as Cylinder 1.

re: Carbon Fiber
hahah, you know that was one of the first things that came to mind.

re: painted arches
agreed. Actually, for my first MINI, I wasn't crazy about single color MINIs. I just loved the white roof, mirrors, and wheels, but Jet Black is different. Having an all uniform color is simply gorgeous...to me.
