Yalla Yalla 2006 October 1!

It will soon be time for Yalla Yalla 2006!!

[Shamelessly cribbing from Jonathan's posts last year--]

In case you are not aware:
  • Yalla Yalla is an annual event celebrating the establishment of MINI5280 as one of the very first MINI enthusiast clubs in this country
  • Yalla Yalla is a Ride, Scavenger Hunt, Musical Interlude and Quiz all rolled into one. We REALLY, SERIOUSLY recommend that you bring a 'Navigator' for this busy and fun ride.
  • Yalla Yalla this year is being held on Sunday, October 1* at 11:00 am starting at Ralph Schomp MINI in Littleton.
  • The Broncos are off that day so you will have nothing else to do.
  • The ride will go approximately 4 hours and will conclude in a location conducive to eating and drinking (you do that while we give away prizes and recognition).
If you have paid your MINI5280 dues in 2006, all the excitement of Yalla Yalla will be free to you! If you haven't, and you write us a $27 check or send us $27 via PayPal before October 1, all the excitement of Yalla Yalla will be free to you! If you have not paid your fees, or if you are not a member of MINI5280 we welcome you as always, even if you drive a MINIvan. All of our guests pay a small fee of $5 at the door to join Yalla Yalla.

If you're planning on coming, please sign up here or at the NAM Events Calendar (click on calendar in the left margin, scroll down, JUMP to the MINI5280 calendar, go to October 1 and click). We put a lot of work into packets, etc., so having a fairly accurate count of attendees beforehand will really help out!

More information will follow. If you have questions, please post them here. We hope to see you on October 1!

*If we have a freak snowfall or something (this being Colorado), the back-up date is October 8.

Hey, everyone, Kendall and I will be on vacation until September 20, so your burning Yalla Yalla questions may not answered until we're back. We're looking forward to seeing everyone October 1!

A little rain or snow never bothered us in the past

Rain, shine, snow, gloom of night...YY is always the most fun event of the year.

Please remember to bring a 'navigator' or someone to ride shotgun, since this is a busy event.

Please remember to sign up in the NAM calendar in the left margin...

Less than one week to go! If you haven't signed up here on NAM and you're planning on attending Yalla Yalla, please take a moment and sign up. We want to have enough materials for everyone without killing a lot of extra trees!

Also, a warning: on this year's route, there is a 3-mile stretch of hardpacked dirt/gravel road that there is no way around (we did try to find alternatives). Taken slowly, though, there is little risk to precious MINIs other than a little dust.

You can always wash it again

on the other hand, if you do that more than once per weekend, the paint will fade.

Lets see faded CR = MP (Mighty Pink). NBoaM - Not Becoming of a MINI (or at least mine) Guess I won't wash it before and wait until after.
Thanks for the tip. Still, no way to avoid the gravel? How about a trailer or perhaps we can get the county to pave it before Sunday.

Yalla Yalla Newbie

Okay, Gang. Since I've never done this before, would anyone like to offer veteran words of advice about what to bring, be prepared for, etc.?

And do you recommend that Yalla Yalla is a good way to spend one's birthday?!?

Well, since I'm helping run the event, I probably shouldn't be giving out advice, except to say bring a navigator!

But I will say that we'll try to make it a fun way to spend your birthday! If you decide to come, be sure to let us know it's your birthday when you sign in at registration.

Birthday cake is good, Holly

but there are better other ways to spend one's birthday. Can you spell S-U-D-S (and I don't mean hot tub). I will buy you the first one.

Now we're talking!

See you at the finish line, Jonathan.

Looks like a gorgeous autumn top-down day, too!

The drive itself is about 3 1/2 to 4 hours. We build in some extra time for people to make stops, so we're giving people until about 4:30 p.m. to turn in materials before we hand out prizes. So depending on what you want to do, it can end anywhere from @ 3 p.m. to ?????

Sorry for the short notice, but unless I find another co-pilot by tomorrow morning, I won't be able to make Yalla Yalla.

No problem, good luck finding someone... we'll be a Schomp a while after the official 11:00am start time if you need extra time to find someone.

Also, I should mention that if you have not signed up you can still attend! Just show up at Schomp around 11:00am tomorrow.

Non-members will be required to pay a small fee, or become members - a great idea for any MINI owner!
