Has anyone ever had their windshield spontaneously crack? It starts in the upper right of the windshield in the middle of the passenger side and kind of winds its way down and across to the driver side. It just stops at the edge of the driver's field of view. It's spread to that point and I'm sure it will spread more.

Mine is a 2005 MCS. Is there record of stress fractures or anything with that model and year? It wasn't hit by a rock. There is no dent or crack that looks like a rock hit it and started the crack.

Kind of a bummer because MITM is so close.

 

Yep it happens. Do a search on windshield and settle back for a day or two of reading .....Les

 

I did that and I think I fell asleep after the 3rd page hehe. Just wondering if anyone in Colorado had this experience too.

 

Happened on a cold day in Winter, on the highway. Started at the edge, worked down. Still there.

First one at 6k miles. Second one 4 days ago at 12k and it will stay there for a while so you can see it at MitM.

I just got my cracked shield replaced under warranty. Unfortunately they installed another windshield of the same make, ie dealer glass. It has a stress resistance problem IMHO. Happened at 2k miles.

 

schomp just replaced mine last week. this subject has been beaten to death on other threads.

 

My issue is that Weeee eats so many rocks that I have replaced mine twice. I think it's the angle or something. MINI's LOVE rocks!

 

Left Colorado MITM on Sunday, nothing hit my windshield, I discovered a small crack almost dead center at the top it is now spreading to the left. I did a search and found out this is kind of common. I have a call in to Niello to see if it's coverd under warranty? Anyone? sounds like some cover it some don't

 

I was told it wasn't covered under warranty but thankfully I have State Farm Insurance and they fix or replace my windshields for free every time. I LOVE State farm!!
