Hey, are you sure that isn't a pic of my car?

I think you have a few more decals on yours now. I just need to get a Mini5280 decal on mine (at least to start)

What happens when you misbehave on the Dragon?

You gotta see this...

Watch what happens when the 2 bikes pass them.

Can't believe the car didn't stop even though there was a place for him to pull off where the bike had gone. If the couple behind our friend hadn't pulled over when he got bit on the dragon, he wouldn't have made it to the hospital in Maryville in time

I am a new mini owner and I think it would be cool to go. Im just trying to get info on who what where and when atm. Unfortunatly I cant commit right now, wont know for sure untill end of Jan or the begining of Feb, if it will be something I can do. This makes getting a room something of an issue im guessing. I have a feeling there is a camping area nearby?

Glad you asked, I can help with logistics

Best Bet: RSVP now then cancel if needed. No cost to you.

Worst Bet: Don't RSVP and plan to camp. Uh.....this is not good unless you also RSVP for camping. This area of the country is, how shall I say, rural at best. The nearest town is 15 miles, 20 minutes away. There are many miscellaneous cabins in the area (think rural) but it is work to find them. The town (Robbinsville, NC) has limited motel space and is always full. Camping is iffy in my opinion, and it has been rainy there the last 2 years. Not deluge but steady rain, enuf to discourage outdoor activities save for driving.

Let me know if you want more details. Check out the scenario at

www.fontanavillage.com

www.tailofthedragon.com

Also check the Graham County Chamber of Commerce (this is western NC and eastern TN)

Hope that helps a bit. Worse comes to worse.....camp in my front yard. Jim did that last year with the Dragon Wagon, and we had all kinds of visitors. Then again, the Dragon Wagon was an attraction. Not Jim.

I can tell you how to recover your cash

if you cancel. There is a very high demand for rooms. I had 5 others stay with me in my cabin, they all shared the cost.

When it comes time, if you must cancel, I suggest you POST the room availability. Then, have someone who needs space send you a check for the deposit. When you get it, just ADD their name to the RSVP and they can check in all by themselves. Never cancel, just add the name and they are fine. I did that since the group that stayed with me (Gabe et all from MotoringFile and Chicago) arrived earlier in the day. They just checked right in. You get your $$ back....they get the room.

That is it. Watch the forums and threads. There will be LOTS of discussion from those who did not / would not / could not / forgot to / are perennial procrastinators about getting a room. I know it sounds weird but this is not like going to Palm Springs. There truly is a limit, or you stay 30 miles away.

hehe.. I am excited now.. just have to take vacation days from work and I am set. Tho I wont be caravaning back with everyone. Ill be staying in winston salem after the dragon for a few days to see the parents, then heading to Kentucky to see the sister and then again to springfield to see relatives. Spend a few days at each place and work my way home, should be interesting. Gonna have to go buy me a road atlas now!!!

Good to hear.

Watch for our thread about the 1st of the year...our little band wants to totally avoid Interstates on the way down. We are planning our little country jaunt so as to enjoy the local scenery, and find as many little 'out of the way' eateries as possible on the way.

We may NOT take the traditional route down thru KC, StL, Nashville and Knoxville. Rather, we may stay north and do NE, IA, ILL, IN, then south thru Kentucky or something. Who knows. The TEAM DRAGON WEST will decide...

Stay tuned.

We stayed here this year. It may be cheap if we end up getting some to a committed group. Having a house nearby was golden and it only cost us about $100/person for a whole week.

Just throwing out ideas...

So Siobhan

Are you going down with the MINIs this year (07) or the bikes?

I reserved two three bedroom cabins at the Fontana. I will be looking for people that would be interested in sharing the cost. So far I think I just need two of the 6 rooms that will be available.

Dunno now... I've committed to doing Race to Save Lives at the Miller Track
http://www.racing2savelives.org/event.php dates just announced: May 3-6th! There's no way to be in two places at once.

***I may sell the bike this winter to buy another one next Fall... so, I may just have the Mini this summer... so it's all up in the air still....
