Emissions help
So I went to go get my emissions tested today....and much to my shock they said they can't do it. I have M7 springs and they said that the car is too low to test.
Anybody had this issue? Solutions? I just may keep it registered in WA if this is the headache that they are going to give me about it. It's not like a scrape the curb at all either. There are tons of sports cars out there lower than MINI's. I'm a bit shocked by all this.
Suggestions?

Yeah that's kind of what i figured I was going to have to try. I did some searching and it seems that the first gen s only needs to get tailpipe test. I called the number on the sheet that they gave me and am going to take it someplace else and figure it out.
I also that that this was interesting....see below:
I/M 240 Exceptions
Because of OEM design and/or safety considerations, some 1982 and newer vehicles are not tested on the dynamometer, but are instead tested with the Two-Speed Idle Test. These include but are not limited to:

Used to all the time with my lowered Jetta.
Spring rubber inserts to lift the vehicle.
No, actually, a lowered MINI has very little clearance in comparison to other "sports" cars, including the Corvette and others because of the recessed belly-pan design.

I think that I actually may get around emissions testing all together since I live in an unincorporated portion of Arapahoe county. Still trying to figure it out and see. I guess it's kind of nice living where we do now! hahaha

Here in Longmont we are part of Boulder County and our 1st gen MSCc gets to ride on the dyno as it has stock 205/45r17 tires, but our 1st gen MCS that is lowered and has 215/40417 does not get to ride the dyno, they pull out the tailpipe test. They say it is not because it is lowered but because they do not test cars with 40 aspect ratio tires as the wheels are too close to the rollers. When I get this done, they have to get the manager out as no one else knows how to do a tail pipe test. Now on the flip side on our 1st gen 2 door AWD RAV4, it gets tail pipe tested but because its wheelbase is too short for the AWD dyno by about 2 inches. Too make a long story short, all the Air Research Dyno Emissions shops in the metro area can and will do tail pipe test, but not many of their folks know how, just ask for the manager.
