Need insurance repair work done :(
Need insurance repair work done :(
I got in an accident last night that resulted in the front bumper being ripped off my '11 MCS. The hood is crinkled, my windshield is cracked, and both of my fender flares are loose.
I have GEICO insurance. They recommend a shop in Boulder that--according to them--rarely gets repairs sent back. However, online reviews of this shop are terrible.
I would rather get my car taken to my dealer (Ralph Schomp in Littleton) and have them manage the entire repair process. Schomp does not have a body shop--they refer to or utilize different shops to complete this work. GEICO said I can have the repair work done at the shop of my choosing.
Help me out--where would you go? What would you do? I've had this car for under a year, and I am concerned about future issues from shoddy repairs. I've never had to use a repair shop for this sort of thing before.

Ummm, see the invite I just posted. Tony is a Schomp recommended repair shop, see if your insurance will pay his rates.
If Schomp uses him, you can figure the repair will be done right. Also, the Classic folks get some fine paint work done at his shop.

Yep, Rallye is one of the shops (I just spelled that 'schops'
) Schomp recommended when they called me back.
But for something like this, is it best to go directly to the body shop to have the work done? Or should I take the car to Schomp and have them oversee/manage the repairs, whether they send it to another shop or not? Or is that even done? Like I said, I'm new to this. Never needed a repair like this.

Go direct to Rallye, let Tony know your associated with the forum and MINI5280, he is pretty easy to talk too. Knows and races some fine vintage racers too.
Why get Schomp involved, direct is better and of course your insurance company.
Take care, you riding the motor cycle for a bit.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Insurance adjuster comes tomorrow. Will plan to get the ball rolling soon thereafter.
Ugh. Love riding the bike, don't get me wrong, but this sucks.
My poor car.

Adjuster came. Estimate doesn't include replacing my clear bra nor my cracked windshield.
Not sure if he didn't see those problems, or if they don't count, or what...
Phone calls and emails in my future.

Unfortunately I was about to post a thread asking the same thing, coming out of our townhome complex this morning a guy backed out of his spot without looking right as I was passing behind him in my car - backed directly into the passenger/club door. Still driveable .. but bruised now. Upset because the car has less than 5,000 miles on it.
I'll be calling up Tony as well once the insurance gets itself settled.

Adjuster called--he didn't see the clear bra or windshield. He said to just have the shop add them once I get it assessed.
Very happy with that conclusion.
Been a crazy week so far. Haven't had a chance to call Rallye yet, but I'll hopefully be able to do that today.

Called Rallye--will be taking my car in on Monday, though I'm going to try to make it to their open house and drop it off then (on Saturday).
Thanks for the recommendation.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Just visited Tony at Rallye myself - due to an upcoming vacation I can't drop it off till later this month - but the shops looks great - I know its in good hands
Also thanks for the recommendation
Also thanks for the recommendation
Tony called and let me know that he ordered my parts today.
He said a few things were out of stock, so he won't have them until later in the week.
He also asked if I wanted aftermarket or OEM glass for my windshield replacement. I said I preferred OEM if my insurance will foot the bill...but I really didn't have a good reason. Thoughts?

Adjuster called this afternoon after reviewing the newly revealed, "hidden" damage. The damage number just went up to nearly double the initial estimate. Ugh.
Again, the waiting game.

Update this morning. Everything is painted and polished and ready to be reassembled. Things left to do at that point will be the clear bra and hood stripes. Oh, blessed be.
Tony said he hopes to have it done by the end of the week.

Yeah, mine's been there since April 28th.
First quote was around $4000 to repair, then it jumped to $7700 once things got taken off. Thank goodness for insurance, but, ouch.
