Striping in Denver area.

The CMS4 should be here in the next 7 weeks (sigh) So I'm thinking about getting a jump start on finding a place to do some vinyl striping put on so I can get the 3M bra put on over it. Any recommendations for a place to check out their work and prices?looking at doing theses stripes only in matte black and the red.

Thanks

I'm down in the western part of HR. I'm willing to make a drive for a shop that does great work though!

You should really consider putting the stripes over the clear bra. The clear bra will last longer than the stripes and you won't have any color variation in the stripe with part being under the clear bra and part being exposed. Also in a couple of years when you want to change your stripes it will be much easier and less expensive.
I have seen stripes with a clear bra material over the entire length and while this would prevent the fade discoloration, it would still be harder to change your stripes out with them under the clear bra. Just food for thought.

Thanks for the input! I was wondering if that would be the way to go!!?? I just wasn't sure about being able to see a hard edge when the vinyl went over the edge of the clear bra!

There will be a hard edge but that is the price you pay for having a clear bra - stripes or no stripes. The only caution I can give is to be careful when polishing with a machine that you don't linger on the stripe area where it goes onto the clear bra. Just like any sharp edge you should avoid when using a machine to polish.
MINI5280 gets a 20% discount from Ben Long at Ace Clear Bra (www.aceclearbra.com). Just tell him you're with the club and he'll come to you and install in your garage. He does good clear bra work.

I ended up working with Lyle @ Vinyl Styles to get the stripes I wanted, but since he's in CA, he obviously didn't do the install.

For that, I ended up working with Brian at Frontier Graphics (frontiergi.com/). He was great, came out to my home and did the install. He's a professional installer, primarily doing commercial projects (stores, fleet trucks, buildings, etc). He requires you to source the stripes from someone not him - purely install only. He did a great job, especially when you consider that each stripe element (24 separate stripes) was individually installed as my stripes weren't pre-masked, requiring individual measurements and lay down.

Good luck!

BTW - my stripes are also installed over the clear bra. Hardly noticeable.

Wrong forum, wrong area, sorry to disappoint.

Good pictures of the stripes and excellent recommendations. Good to know there are options in the greater Denver area for stripes and installation.

I know...damn auto-correct! I tried to change it but, this forum doesn't allow title change like just about every other forum I'm on!

Thanks! I'll be doing the striping thing again in the next month or so now that the little lady's got an ordered R57 headed this way in a couple weeks!

Can't wait to see pics of your final product and let us know where you ended up going!

I will second the recommendation for Lyle @ www.vinylstyles.com regarding graphic creations. If you can think it, he can make it.

I've done a couple of variations of exterior striping on my R56 and last fall, after changing out a few pieces of OEM chrome to carbon fiber at AMVIV 10 in Vegas, Lyle designed carbon fiber gauge faces, MINI wings, skuttles, etc. Excellent work all around. I had a friend over @ Car Toys do the install on his own time, very clean. If you'd like his contact info, let me know.

And if you look up @ the scrolling banner above you'll see Chris Sarian's fully wrapped R53 - very nicely done install. I believe he used a guy out of Ft. Collins. Give him a call 303-421-0365 I'm sure he'd be happy to help.

Good luck, and yes, I agree with Chuck about clear-bra, stripe sequence.

Motor On..

Chris
